I've been up for 4.5 hours, so someone needs to start the thread.
Early 30s, next goal PR half end of the month (sub 1:28). Bit of a step back after (or because of?) the great week I had last week.
M - 7
T - Supposed to be 3x2mi, first 2 @6:28, second 1.5 @6:38, bailed on the rest and jogged home, 5.6 total
W - scheduled off
T - 1 up, 6mi @ 6:29, 1 down (6:32/33/30/30/21/21) My average heart rate over those 6 miles was 158...my average heart rate at my PR half after 6 miles @ 6:52 last year was 161...and then I negative split by 4 minutes. So this made me feel better than Tuesday.
F - unscheduled off, weather, usually I see it coming and can schedule around it but this storm blindsided me and I ran out of time
S - 6
S - 13
Only 39.6 total. Bummer. If I had realized I was under 40 this morning I probably would have run another half mile. I guess the day isn't over.
After I bombed on Tuesday (last week was 2x3 @ 6:16 for reference) I went back and looked at my (according to RRR) overly detailed log. Since my rest day the week prior got moved due to work travel, finishing that workout would have meant that in a span of 7 days I would have done:
-4 workouts
-10 miles further than any single week since returning from baby...and only 3 miles less than my peak mileage ever (last May/June)
As it stands it was 3.5 workouts and 5 miles further than any week since a year ago. Also....
-My average pace for the week prior was my fastest ever since starting the log over 2 years ago...by at least 20-25s/mi.
So, I came to the conclusion I needed to slow my roll a little bit. Especially on my easy runs. That's why the paces are not listed this week for easy or long runs...intentionally going back to my roots. Probably also a demonstration that my strength isn't quite where it should be yet.
On the other hand, in looking back at the data I also realized my heart rate never went above 160 on Tuesday, averaging low 150s for the reps before I bailed (Usually ~200 at the end of races). So maybe I just never got warmed up and I bailed for nothing. I'm trying to think more long term now so I'm not going to fight too hard on a day when I'm feeling low for fear of injury, but on Thursday the hardest 2 miles were the first two and I thought "here we go again," and then it got easy.
A little over a week of good work left to put in before I start to scale back a little for the race.
