Everytime I see a cycling podium all I see is three big syringes

Because of blood doping and EPO across the board.

That's right, they are from guys running while carrying bikes.

Speaking as someone who has been both a competitive cyclist as well as a competitive runner (and comp Nordic skier), I can say that cycling can get you plenty fit. Running can get you plenty fit, too. Running will get you more "fit" for running, and cycling more "fit" for cycling. Interesting to note that cyclists and nordic skiers are rather prevalent at the top end of vo2 max records, for example. Just sayin.
Running is a natural full body exercise using all the muscles of the body, and cycling is not, as it uses primarily the quadriceps and very little movement elsewhere.
Vo2 max is a measure of inefficiency, and besides results having a high range, is not a measure of overall body fitness. Having the groups run a 12 kilometer cross country race would be a much better indication.
Yes, we're getting off topic. VO2 max is not All That, as has been discussed here before.

I had higher readings than Indurain, for example, yet was not the fastest guy on my college team.
That said, I can confirm that at least for me and several people I personally know, you can be a 'fit' cyclist, run a bit to get used to the pounding, and then run competitively, especially given today's anemic road race scene. In other words, you can run 10-15 miles a week, ride your bike a lot, then run well. Possibly even faster than you would running only. Just saying.
Doesn't look like 2:48 to me, more like 3:48.

Have you ever ridden a bicycle fast?
He could go a lot quicker than 2.48 if he trained for it. He likes running, but I can't see him switching from serious biking to serious running.
Does he ever try racing at a higher level? He seems pretty good at turning up where there is no competition or being late for the Marathon start so he doesn't have to find out how he stacks up to the leaders.
There is a very funny video of someone arguing with him. Goes like this:
"Paid yer dues Harley? Paid yer dues? Paid yer fukcing dues mate? Haven't paid yer dues have yer Harley? Haven't paid yer fukcing dues have yer mate? Haven't paid yer fukcing dues have yer Harley?
Wish I could find the video, but it's lost in the mist of youtube time.
This dude doesn't compete in real races because they might do some testing. PED poseur.
strenuosly avoiding competition. wrote:

Seems like it, he did a video on a 10km race which he win, but it looked like some community fun run.

To be fair he just needs to run about 7min pace so that is a jog. But anyone with a brain knows he runs more than 10 miles a week. Centro could go run with Strava once a week and claim he runs one day a week and can run a 3:32 1500. Point is, your Strava feed isn’t evidence on how much you run. You can easily not run with Strava most of the time.
The problem is that he tries to make it seem like diet is the thing which allows such modest athletic feats. You could find junk food aficionados who hardly run and also break 3 hours.
There's the guy who lived on McD's and did a 2:36.
Tarzan Brown won Boston twice on a diet of drinking and chopping firewood.

^this. And even on first glance I found a couple 30 - 40+ mile weeks including 100s of miles of cycling directly b4 the marathon. So the 10 mpw just isn't true at least for the direct prep.
Perhaps he should try training properly and go sub 2:20!
Should be easy

He doesn't want to prove that diet is key to that level.
