It is really difficult for those of us who are moderates to understand this absolute, unquestioning backing of anything Trump says or does. People should question EVERY politician: both their words and their actions. But when Trump says some off the cuff thing like this that is at least un-Presidential and at worst racist, they find a way to back him up. When Trump lies, his fans rationalize. Then they start slamming Clinton as if somehow that makes it OK. Maybe Clintons are terrible people. But neither of them holds a public office anymore. Get over it. Let the law go after them if they committed crimes.
Trump is the person currently in public office as President. He has people who committed crimes against the United States at the highest level of his campaign. He/his staff consistently deny facts and claim anything that is negative about them is "fake news". He has some policy positives, but he has some big negatives too. Open your eyes to both. An educated populace is a lot less likely to end up in tyranny from their government that one that accepts "their guy" indisputably and without question. Most of his fans want less government power, but are handing him near absolute power. See the irony there?
