She probably died for other reasons. The dog ate his dead owner to stay alive.

Shouldn't that person be mauled instead of her?

There were 2 dogs, not one.
Typical white trash with a pit bull.
People always say they are "harmless" and it's "just the bad owners." Give me a fvcking break. Worst dogs on the planet. Only losers own them.
Could have been the dingo
It's believed that the dogs had been bred for fighting.
Why didn't they start fighting each other then, after the chick was finished off?

Unburied Ranch? Let me get this straight. The woman buried herself?
OTOH, pit bulls can save lives too.

Her owner, Ronene Ando, said that Ruby, a certified therapy dog through the Buffalo, New York, SPCA, is usually quiet but did not stop barking Thursday evening—giving her the indication that something was not right.

So tired of hearing about how the breeds are misunderstood blah blah blah. I think there is something deeply sociopathic
and f***ed up about someone who feels the need to own a breed of dog that can kill a human; this goes for Rottweilers, Akitas, German Shepards, etc. Maybe I give a pass to Huskies owned by a sled-dog outfit in Alaska or something, but that's it. There is no excuse to own this kind of animal in an urban area and I'm continually stunned the laws on this aren't tougher.

You could replace guns with dogs and everyone outside of the US would say you're making a lot of sense.

Except Switzerland, but who’s counting?

Pits are arguably the SEC Athlete in terms of strength, athleticism, and instincts. They are very, very instinctive, and loyal to whatever environment they are exposed to. Sadly, their traits were used for many years for horrific, underground dog fighting rings. That being said, when I was 7 years old, I was nearly mauled to death by a Golden Retriever. The irony is, I grew up with a Golden, she slept in bed with me every night and didn't have a mean bone in her body. However, a young friend of mine, who's Golden was attached to a chain around a tree in their backyard, was not the loving Golden I was used to. I went up to him to say hello and pit him, was cheerful in my approach. He jumped on me, pinned me to the ground, it was horrifying. I had over 100 stitches between my skull and ear lobe nearly torn off. Perspective my friends. Look deeper into something than just your typical click bait, especially with Pits. There are tens of thousands of videos online of muscle bound pits curled up to young kids, and I can attest to their loving nature.
German Shepherds? lol dude, go own a chihuahua then you freaking idiot. Any dog can be trained to bite and attack.
Take your stupid butt to a dogpark. Watch the pitbulls play with other dogs, and play nicely with humans. Sure they are probably a little more play aggressive but at my dogpark, the pitbulls are fine, the shepherd's are fine. All the dogs are fine. There was one bad dog one time and his owner was an idiot and laughed as his non pitbull dog attacked 2 other dogs.
My pit lives with me in an apartment building in a densely populated city without issue. I rescued him from a kennel where I was told he was raised to fight by his original owner.
Last building I was in, the people the floor above me didn't even know I had a dog for a few months.
Meanwhile, the couple on the first floor had a small (10lb) dog that was constantly barking on the weekends when they would leave and forget to feed him. There were complaints. Turns out the dog was peeing and defecating in their unit. They lost their security deposit.
The owner matters. I've been turned down from apartments because of my dog. The sacrifice is worth it because he's my dog.
I have a border collie. We have a lot of parvo in our area due to strays. We were very careful to make sure our border collie had all her shots before we took her on walks. From the very first day we took her on a walk in the neighborhood, she would crouch down when a car approached and jump in the air at the car as it went by. She was herding. Her breeder said that all her dogs are from working stock and a lot of them do that with cars.
From virtually the beginning, pit bulls have been bread for their ability to fight and kill. Pit bulls and other bull terrier breads were originally bread for "bull baiting" in England. That is when they put a bull in a pit and and see whether a dog could take down the bull. Larger breeds like mastiffs were to big and slow to evade the bulls horns and were usually gored to death. Pit bulls were smaller and faster and had tremendous bite pressure. They would kill the bulls by biting their necks and holding on as the bull tried to throw them.
Pit bulls then became the fighting dogs of choice for illegal dog fighting and were also used by drug dealers to protect their stash. There were thousands of underground pit bull breeders who tried to breed the most violent and vicious dogs that were also very loyal and obedient to their owners. Pit bulls have never been AKC dogs. So, there are pit bull blood lines that owners can look at to be sure that their dog is not a descendant of a dog bread to fight.
When pit bulls attack, it is just like when a border collie herds. It is instinct. Pits were selectively bred to fight and kill. Saying that a pit bull attacked because it wasn't treated right or felt threatened is like saying a border collie herds because it did not get enough exercise or was kept in its cage too long. Border collies heard because they have been bred for a few hundred years to do that instinctively. Border collie puppies will instinctively begin to herd sheep without any training. Pit bulls attack and kill because it is their instinct.
I'm an animal lover as much as anyone but there is a certain type of idiotic pride in owning a pit and not training it or containing it properly and I blame the owners.
I run by shepherds, bulldogs, huskies, beagles, and golden doodles. At most they bark or run to their property line...
Twice in my time running ive been attacked. One time dog came at me in the street and we got tangled up and luckily I got away and another one came chasing after me with the red neck owner calling it back. It bite me on the leg. Both of those incidents were pits..
Do I blame the dog nope, dog is being a dog chasing or protecting I blame the stupid owner. But Pits are more likely to run at you with teeth showing vs many other breeds.
