Bingo.
Let's take a look at the marathon times of:
1) Mr. Galen Rupp (typical American runner with ZERO GOLD MEDALS at the Olympics or World Championships or Cross-Country)
2017 Chicago Marathon 2:09:20 PR (Kenenisa had a time of 2:05:51 at the 2014 Chicago Marathon)
2017 Boston Marathon 2:09:58
2016 Rio Olympics 2:10:05
2016 Olympic Trials 2:11:13 (debut)
The 2:09:20 marathon PR of Mr. Galen Rupp is 2:44 slower than the SLOWEST marathon (which he ran in London after training for only 6 weeks)...and 6:17 slower than the 2:03:03 marathon PR of Mr. Kenenisa Bekele.
2) Mr. Kenenisa Bekele (greatest distance runner of all-time on this planet):
2017 London Marathon 2:05:57
2016 Berlin Marathon 2:03:03 PR
2016 London Marathon 2:06.36
2014 Chicago Marathon 2:05:51

blargh!
He blows his nose (even looks at the contents in his hand) and then shakes hands with the next guy?
Yuck!
I'm not here to dispute with you whether Rupp or Bekele has the better palmares, Bekele's are better than anyones. But you have severely misrepresented Rupp. It looks ridiculous to compare Rupp in the marathon to Bekele in everything.
OMG. I do believe the subject is about Rupp being better than Bekele currently. Most things of note that Bekele has done is obviously before 2010. Cmon.
If you're going to include Bekele's marathons of the last few years please include all of his DNFs. Then you'll get a better picture of how "good" he is. Also, so what place did Bekele get in his time trial marathons? Right, he can't win in the major marathons like Rupp can. Rupp is 1 for 3. Bekele? Hahaha. Let's see:
2014 Chicago. Bekele. 4th place almost 2 minutes behind winner.
2016 London. Bekele. 3rd place. 3 and a half minutes behind winner Kipchoge.
2017 London. Bekele. 2nd place. Gets beaten by unknown Wanjiru.
2016 Berlin. Only notable Bekele win.
So what do we see here? Bekele really has only one notable marathon, and only one notable marathon win. All of these were time trials and as shown he gets beat by Kipchoge by 3 and a half minutes!! No way Rupp is losing to Kipchoge over 3 and a half minutes!!
Year 2017 marathon times:
Galen 2:09:20
Kenenisa 2:05:57
Marathon PR:
1) Kenenisa Bekele ran 2:03:03 in the year 2016
2) Eliud Kipchoge ran 2:03:05 in the year 2016.
3) Galen Rupp (but really Coach Alberto gets most of the credit) ran 2:09:20 in the year 2017.
Eliud and Kenenisa run 2:09 as a tempo run in training.
Kenenisa has already stated that there is no point in running a 2:09 marathon in an actual marathon race...because it is way too slow.
It would be embarrassing for Eliud or Kenenisa to run a 2:09 marathon.
That is why the slowest marathon time for Kenenisa is a 2:06:36 which was after only training for 6 weeks.
What is Galen's major problem???
Answer:
1) Coach Alberto AlbuterolAndrogelLevoxylCytomelSalbutamol Salazar is the major problem for Galen.

2017 Chicago Marathon 2:09:20 PR (Kenenisa had a time of 2:05:51 at the 2014 Chicago Marathon)

2016 London Marathon 2:06.36
2014 Chicago Marathon 2:05:51
2014 Paris Marathon 2:05.03 (debut
2014 Chicago. Bekele. 4th place almost 2 minutes behind winner. And 3:23 FASTER than Rupp’s PB
2016 London. Bekele. 3rd place. 3 and a half minutes behind winner Kipchoge. And 2:24 FASTER than Rupp’s PB, furthermore 3:29 FASTER than Rupp’s the same year.
2017 London. Bekele. 2nd place. Gets beaten by unknown Wanjiru. And 3:23 FASTER than Rupp same year, in one race and 4:01 FASTER in another.
2016 Berlin. Only notable Bekele win.?YES, 6:17 seconds FASTER than Rupp’s PB.
So what do we see here? In any given bad day for Bekele, he is at least 3minutes FASTER than Rupp in his best day. YES, Rup can easliy loose over 3:00 behind Kipchoge not to mention over Bekele on a bad day. Those are your facts.
Galen also has had to battle against asthma, "hypothyroidism" and... "hypocarnitinemia" in his running career.
Does Galen still see Dr. Jeffrey Brown for his "hypothyroidism" and "hypocarnitinemia" problems?
Does Coach Alberto still see Dr. Jeffrey Brown for his "hypothyroidism" and "hypogonadism" problems?

What are the recent blood test results for Galen and Coach Alberto?
Quite a shitty course, at one point the leaders had to pass the slower 10k guys. As for Bekele? He looked good once he laid down the hammer, yet I did not see him in quite good form. I did met the guy that placed second, Tuemay Tsegay back at the 2016 San Blas half marathon, he is only 21, kind of runner you want to keep on eye on for the future.
Bekele has proved again that he is the most greatest runner ever. It said that the first 12k was 39:09, and Bekele was a few seconds from the front. If he finished in 73:48 than he done 13k in 34:3x. That proves that he is still the best 10k runner in the world ever. after running 12k, doing a 26:40ish 10k and then keeping the pace for yet another 3k. All out he will have done a potentially literally world record. It is definitely a road, world record. I'm surprised that wasn't evan realised by any one. Am I the only one with the brains to noticed this. I literally think he would have done the world record if he had a pacer with evanly paced splits, and no crowds of runners toward's the end, to get paced through.
Seriously dude, you need to layoff those "all-nighters." You're rambling like a drunk.

I agree. Actually the apparent pacer crapped out. Again, once he laid down the hammer, he looked unstoppable, scarily fast. I did not see him at 100% yet, once he gets there, I can only imagine.
Head to Head since 2012
Galen Rupp (USA), 2
Kenenisa Bekele (ETH), 0

Wait, are you seriously trying to say Galen has some drug suspicion around him but Bekele does not?? Bekele does not have to worry about asthma problems or staying in a gray area, he is from a country that has no doping control, and does not have to worry about unannounced testing. He is 100% into the most hardcore drugs in existence!!

Perhaps you need an explanation in a different way.
Imagine in 2020 Bekele runs a Diamond League time trial type of race in the 5000 in Brussels and runs a 13:02.
Rupp never bothers running a set up time trial type of race on the Diamond League circuit and runs no better than 13:09 that year.
Rupp runs the Olympics and wins Silver in the 5000 running in 13:29.
Bekele gets disqualified in the semi and does not run in the final.
Do you see now why one would pick Rupp over Bekele at this time? It's not much different from what is happening in their marathoning outcomes.
12k was sub 36:00
Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, help Bekele get the record.
Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, prove that he is the true GOAT.
I literally saw 39 minutes in an article, but I haven't seen the video of him running yet. I still literally think he could run 26:40 for 10k. Still really good time for that course, weather and crowds of slowly runner's he had to weave and pace.

is there anywhere that has actual splits of this race? basically that video just shows the last few kms
Bekele (as we found out) wasn't in great shape, as Jos Hermens mentions in this article:
“The race okay, not extraordinary. Obviously, Kenenisa is not in top shape.” – Jos Hermens
Pollution also was likely an issue.
He was wearing Vaporflys for those keeping track....
