This is a big job, who's the front runner? The mens distance group has come a long way over the last few years. Return of McRaven?
Nah not McRaven. It will be one of last year's power 5 coaches without work right now. Herbster, MVA, Metcalf, or Jason Drake. If I'm Mike Turk I'd go with J.D. -
UNC big announcements Monday at 2pm. It’s on like Donkey Kong!

Thanks for the heads up and keeping the community in the loop. I'll be sure to check back on Monday.

Give it up Cale. You did well in a very uncompetitive conference meet. You have done nothing on the national stage. Keep working. Stop self promoting on letsrun.

LOL to ANYONE who legitimately thinks Johnson made the hires at Oregon.
These we hires made by Vin, Salazar and Crazy Doc Treasurer.
Johnson is a very well paid puppet — nothing more.

What I like about the hire of Ben Thomas. Johnson was not intimidated, he did not say this guy might take the program to new heights. . He did not go with his friend, he went with a guy he really respected as a coach. So many coaches are afraid to go with a really good coach and person because they don't know them and feel they could lose their job to them. Aka a coach in the SEC and one or two hundred all over the land. Follow Johnson's lead and hire the best person for the program when it is available.
Example: Some coaches will tell their team we are going to get the best sports car for this program, someone who sets the program on a new level. If someone gave you a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 405 with rebuilt everything, low miles great shape you would take it, but some coaches say " no that is too much car" and get intimidated by it. . So they opt for the 2010 mazda miata and tell people it is easier to drive and gets better gas mileage, has less miles, but is just as good as the Mustang.
You must mean a Boss 429? No such thing as a Boss 405 -
Didn't Ben Gall take the job at NNU?
Surprising if he did being that he built Cal Baptist into a D2 power and they just upgraded to D1 -

UNC will announce Andrea Grove-McDonough as the new head of men's/women's cross country. Talked to many people who were able to confirm it. Cat is out of the bag, official announcement pending on internal red tape. Ask anyone at Iowa State and they will confirm that

It looks like Andrea isn’t listed on the XC site at ISU anymore.

Can she coach guys? Why would you hire one person for a 2-person job? -
It has always been a one person job at UNC. head coach with assistant, both work with guys and girls
-
Guys and girls training is pretty similar... if anything coaching girls is harder than coaching guys. Most co ed programs essentially do the same work outs just at different paces. Sometimes top girls will be doing similar volume as low mileage guys in these work outs too. It is not like she is training two different species of animal
