One big thing is fantasy football is killing the nfl. People are looking at computer screens instead of watching games. As far as the games go all of the pro leagues have slowly priced themselves out of most peoples range. My son and I went to a nfl game, we didn't tailgate, but by the end of the game tickets, parking, food and drinks it was in the area of $300 to $350. I am the definition of middle class too.
I'd wager otherwise re: fantasy football. I watch MORE games because of fantasy football, as opposed to before fantasy football when I just watched my home team and there would have been no reason for me to tune in to Tennessee vs. Indianapolis.
I don't go to many games anymore, because I have more fun going to college football games. That may be more of a product of the teams than the NFL's failings, though.

There was no assumption. For the past 12 months Trump voters have been called every awful name in the book by violent, hypocritical lefties. We call them out on it and we "have issues?"

There is no "we" - I was speaking to you directly. You have issues. From reading a statement, "The NFL is Doomed! Maybe eventually, but so far Trump and his sheep are losing" you went on a huge tirade ascribing all kinds of beliefs and assumptions about the OP that show you to be a loony. How can you say there were no assumptions in your post?
Adding that the current Tax cuts sales pitch to ‘stimulate job growth’ will go nowhere. Unemployment is currently low. There are no masses of people looking for work. The claim that there are scores of people who have dropped out of the job market and aren’t included in the unemployment stats is partially true. Many of them realize that they cannot pass a drug test as a precondition of employment. Most others have retired early because they were financially able to. The rest are like those in industries like Coal that have lost their jobs through no fault of their own, but refuse to learn something new. To make it worse, they hold out false hope because someone is telling them that Coal jobs are coming back. This would be like T. Roosevelt claiming that horse and buggys will be coming back.
If you think Trump is in this to help anything other than his ego and get back at Obama for making fun of him at the correspondence dinner you are the stupid one and a dolt. You are claiming that a guy who has taken advantage of the system his whole life, has contempt (doesn't even try to hide it) for all the groups (middle class, Christians, military) who support him, admitted to sexual assault while being recorded, supports a pedophile in the name of votes, hires a bunch of people who wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the @ss, and can't keep his stories straight from one minute to the next became president to better the country? You and the other 30% who buy this bag of s#@t's good's are the sad part of what's going on. Btw, economy, jobs, consumer confidence is trending exactly the same as when he took office. If Trump deserves credit for anything its that he didn't kill the positive financial direction of the country. Although there is still time for that with the trickle down economics belief that has made Kansas such a financial powerhouse and will put the rest of the US in the same boat.
My kids are in elementary school. There is not a single kid that we know of who is playing Pop Warner or any other organized pee wee football league. I have never seen anyone throw a football around after school. Of course, we live in a close in urban neighborhood where the moms are all very progressive. But even in the burbs, pee wee football numbers are way down.
I know a plaintiffs attorney who worked on the NFL concussion class action. There is genuine fear in the NFL that CTE is much more widespread than currently known. Over the past 30 years, NFL players have gotten bigger, stronger and hit much harder than they did in the 1970s and 80s thanks to better selection of body types by HS and college coaches and advances in training (with a lot of help from pharma too). The NFL has no clue how to reduce the concussions and season ending injuries because any modification of the game would reduce the violence that fans like.
The current response to the "take a knee" movement will pass quickly. People were similarly pissed off at players when they went on strike and had replacement players. Attendance numbers dropped off, but came back in a year or two.

We're all doomed if the most watched tv programs are "The Big Bang Theory" and "Young Sheldon". People literally need to be told when to laugh nowadays apparently.
This is progress. Two and a Half Men used to be the most watched.

So along comes this billionaire (Trump) who give up his way of life, doesn't get a paycheck*, to try and fix all of these problems...
Tell me, if I forgo a token $400,000 salary, and then personally sign a new law that saves my family $4 billion in estate tax, does that make me a selfless person?

TVs are too good now to want to spend the money to go to a game. I have a 60in UltraHDTV, I can sit in my home, get all the stats, no parking to deal with, no crowds, no $8 beers.
The problem with TV is you can't watch pass plays develop. You have to wait for the replay to see what happened. Since I played WR and DB this is what I care the most about.
Baseball is better on TV because I can't tell the difference between a ball and a strike unless I'm on the field, and the camera catches more than I could see in a stadium. Hockey and Basketball are about the same live and on TV. Football and Soccer are better live, but I have tailgated and never gone into the stadium more than once.
The NFL may not be doomed, but it sure as hell is DOMED. Bunch of pansies can't face the elements like runners.

My wife’s ex wanted their son to play football. She said refused due to the health issues. The ex signed him up anyways and the son refused to play because he loves his mama. The kid might not have been any good, but it shows parents are starting to get it.
But football will never go away. There’s too many “macho” men who need to show how tough they are by having their sons play football.
The point of that story is that the boy didn't want to play football.
My dad signed my brother up to play baseball and he didn't want to play so he didn't go.
Show me a story where the boy wanted to play football but the parents woudln't let them.
Actually, that was me. My mom didn't want me to play.
But I signed up in high school and played anyway.
I wish I still had the link, but a few weeks ago a guy linked the actual attendance for games this year and they are on average higher than last year for every team. Some are lower, but most are higher. Claiming that football attendance is down is basically a flat out lie and can only begin to have some truth if you cherry pick statistics using only teams who are having a way worse season than last season.
whoknows???? wrote:

This isn't true. They've priced you (and me) out of attending, but enough people are still buying. Plenty of sellout crowds, whether or not all the tickets lead to a butt in the seat. The high prices would not be sustainable if people were not buying.

When was this? Now you need a parent signature to do high school sports, you can't just show up.
In conversation with our track kids, there are a good number of them who want to do football, but their parents won't let them.

If you can find it, please share. NFL teams do like to disclose actual turnstile figures, only tix sold.

Trump has repeatedly attacked the NFL (probably because they refused to let him buy a team), so how is bringing him up a sign of derangement? Unless you meant he is deranged. In that case you are correct sir!
Trump's presidency is all about him getting even with people who slighted him in the past.

The libs are basically little children. They don’t know anything.
