He actually got a lot of screentime on the German telecast until he pulled away from Gabius and Szost right before 30k.
He was wearing his Swansea Harriers club vest.

Nice!
It's good to see more variety at the front- not just 10-12 Kenyans and Ethiopians.
Griffiths was spectacular. Remember he ran a 61:33 half 4 weeks ago. But today his final time didn't do his race total justice.
He went through halfway in 63:49 after running the 3rd 5k segement in 14:35. At 35k he was still on 2:08:28 pace.

Steve Jones still the Wales record holder?
Someone posted on another thread that he is the first Brit (besides Farah) to run under 2:10 in 12 years (although Callum Hawkins was close this Summer at Worlds).

Grassroots HERO....
Looks like he "ruined" a better time between 10-15 km. Too fast.
2.08 if more even level.
Damn, I want to know what Griffiths changed in his training from 2016-2017, or if he was simply inspired by all the Welsh running so well - Muir, Burkhardt, Hawkins, O'Hare...

Some improvement. Two years ago he was only just breaking 65 for a half. Amazing.

Barry Fudgicle, Font Romeau special juice.
Actually consistent training in the " mountains " which are only 3,000 to 3,900 feet in Wales.
'it is exactly this approach that has worked for the Griffiths-Evans partnership to date. Dewi & Kevin have been working together for about 9 years. Both are proud Welsh speakers from rural Carmarthenshire who have formed a solid working relationship.
Kevin is full of praise for Dewi. He describes him as a “character” and a “man with a big heart who would never give up.”
“Dewi runs about 100 miles a week, and what people don’t know about Dewi is that when he isn’t training, he’s working on his family’s farm, and its lambing season! Discipline is key to his success.”
Kevin’s extensive experience has certainly given him that extra edge for working with Dewi, and it’s clear to see that his know-how has served the Carmarthen product very well indeed.
“I don’t think you can compare Dewi to any other British endurance athletes. He has found success in mountain running, track, cross country and road. There aren’t many athletes around who are so adept across several disciplines.”

Devi has better coaching.
Is it true he's a sheep farmer?
It appears it is true.
Quotes from the article:
It was only last year that his father bothered getting a sheep dog. Up until then, his son used to chase them around the fields.
“I’d be up early before school and then help out after school when I was younger. I’d be mucking out or rounding up the sheep – I’d have to chase the lambs in the field and try to catch them, which certainly kept me on my toes.
“We didn’t have a sheep dog, so my Dad used to send me instead. That’s probably where the running came from, although nowadays he’s got a dog, which saves my legs a bit.
“My parents have always been very supportive and now they let me do my running first before I help out on the farm. That’s why they got the dog, but I still have to help out when I can."
