Hey, I was a mediocre HS runner with XC times of 17-low 17s 5k. Both track seasons didn't go too well and I ran as one might call a "fitness" jogger consistently but not daily in the following summer and during my freshman year. Now, being 2 years since my peak of XC, I'm looking to train to get back to this 17-low 17-minute 5k level again first before I train to get lower than that. In your opinion, how long should this take? Obviously, I'm like around 19-19:30 but my body and mind knows what it's like to run low 17s so how long of thorough training should it take to get my body down to this level again if I train regularly and consistently? Thanks.
