I think this video is mostly for marketing purposes. Don't get me wrong I love squatting and dead lifting but it's benefits are over stated and its easy to go overboard and not see. I have tons of scar tissue and back issues from the past three years for which I've been lifting heavy. I practice good form, give myself recovery cycles and have been working with PTs, chiros, doctors and massage therapists the entire time, dedicating most of it to lifting training support. Fact is, every once in awhile, lighter max classic lifts are ok (under 300 pounds) but even medium weights don't translate to the biomechanics of distance running.
Now try balancing a lifting cycle with the cycles and demands of elite full time distance running training and performance. Genetic talent can do wonders sure. Now, if you want to stretch the rules a bit that's another story...
