Hi, i'm a 16 years old. I've been running over a year and 8 months. When i first started running cross country, i came in about 30 for 6k. Then this year in january i came in 27:09 in 6k, and i had 1500m in April which i came in 5:16. The thing is, after i run that 1500m, i run easy (litteraly all of my runs) for about 5 weeks, then had a week off, then i jump into my training for an upcoming 6k which i thought is "good". Here's what the training looks like for 5 weeks before a 6k race :
5k easy
7k easy
5 x 1000m (close to it) w/ 90 sec recovery
7k easy
.
When i race the 6k, i was depressed to find out i came in 28;28. I don't have any coach btw. My place doesn't really have running community or whatever. I'm running on my own. Am i doing things wrong? Plus, when i doing that intervals, i couldn't run the pace that i run in the 1500m. Am i losing speed? i thought i could break 24 min for 6k that time. Now im just frustrated i couldn't get any faster like the other runners.
.
p/s : right now is september. My current mileage is 20 mpw. With a 8 miles long run. I didnt do intervals that much anymore. Still depressed didnt get any faster. My school just make my weekly mileage inconsistently. I rarely race in my place so i dont really know how much will i improve.
