see a specialist if you haven't already. That's too long if you've been doing all the usual stuff like stretching, rolling, strengthening.
sorry, meant that for the other PF thread.
I posted a long reply in the other PF thread. Check it out.
Funny how I saw this thread pop back up, I barely check letsrun but just so happened to out of pure boredom.
Anyways, I’m sorry to hear about your case, I couldn’t imagine 14 months of that pain. I’ll try my best to help you.
I was fortunate enough to only have it for about 2 and a half months. I used the night socks and for 2 nights and felt they made my pain worse so I stopped. You could be different as I’ve read it helping some people, so you could try.
I couldn’t run more than 2 miles without it seriously hurting. It felt like a burning sensation.
Here’s what I remember doing religiously, and knock on wood I haven’t had this injury return;
-Freeze a water bottle and roll your foot out on it religiously
-Stretching is KEY. I went through Physical Therapy and found out I had very tight calves/hamstrings. Go through PT, it helped me.
(Stand on the edge of your stairs on the foot with plantar fasciitis and lean forward to stretch calves)
I did this in mornings when I woke up.
Stretch your glutes, hamstrings, and calves often. I was doing it like 10x a day.
-deep tissue Massaging calves. I had my PT trainer do this every appointment.
-foam rolling calves/hamstrings/glutes
Sorry for the long post but I remember the hell of waking up everyday with my foot and having trouble just walking in school. Stay consistent with stretching and rolling ur foot out with the frozen water bottle are what I feel helped the best. Good luck
I had PF off and on for the last two years. I started noticing it hurt less when I was walking around my house barefoot. I started running in my xc flats instead of my running shoes and within a week my PF went away. If I wear my work shoes or sandles (both have “comfy” arch support) my arch starts to ache after a couple hours. I am fully convinced that the arch support is what aggravates my foot from repetitive impact. It could be a coincidence, but it worked like clock work for me. Still no PF after about 3 months.
You are lucky. So you had an initial stage.
In general, you need to constantly monitor your feet, do not overload, wear the right shoes.
At one time, I didn't follow it. I suffered for 1.5 years. I couldn't walk on some days. Strong pain.
Once I read on the page
https://stepadrom.com/fast-plantar-fasciitis-cure-ebook/
interesting article about methods of treating plantar fasciitis and decided to buy a fast plantar fasciitis cure book.
In the end, I feel good for 4 months. The main thing is to follow all the rules from the book.
Thanks for posting the update to your situation you had with PF last year.
PF is a pain! I've had it 2-3 times but never really bad like some people have had. It didn't bother me when running but about 30 minutes after finishing is when the pain would return. The pain was worse first thing in the morning. In time it would clear up but it was usually about six months.
I'm curious if there are running shoes that are better than others for running with PF. I found one article, https://thetriathletehub.com/best-running-shoes-for-plantar-fasciitis/ referring a few and would love to try a pair to see if that helps as well.
