Bumping for Faith as she, again, has been overlooked for World Athlete of the Year. The women's 1500m was hands down the most anticipated event of the World Championships and it lived up to the hype. I guarantee you if home girl Muir had won the race it would have been declared the outstanding athletic achievement of the year and earned the the WAOTY title by a mile.
Thank you for bumping it for faith.
She has always bumped it for us even when others didn't believe in her.
By the way, even our very own Athletics Kenya has done Faith a disservice!
She has never won the SOYA award perhaps because of people like Vivian Cheruiyot, Helen Obiri and other marathon runners.
It is sad that she has always flown under the radar when talking about our very own top female runners.
I was just thinking about it after her Tokyo gold:- unless I am wrong, she has never won bronze for Kenya every!
It's always gold and I think two silvers at the worlds. FAITH HAS NEVER FAILED TO MEDAL!
That is a stellar career that people don't seem to appreciate.
We owe her more and yes, we owe her a lot of love.
Ethiopia needs to thank us. I think Gidey will win gold courtesy of Faith.
Great as she is, a part of Sifan Hassan WENT HOME DEVASTATED today and it was all because of Faith.
I don't see Sifan beating Gidey and Obiri. I just don't!
She'll definitly win SOYA this year. And there's a school in Keringet that will have her name in the future.
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN! 👸🏿 👑
3:49.11 WORLD RECORD FOR FAITH. Undisputed GOAT 🐐
Inventory:
2014 🥇 Commonwealth Games (defeats season form girl Hellen Obiri)
2015 🥈 World Championships (behind Genzebe Dibaba but ahead of more fancied Sifan Hassan)
2016 🥇 Olympic Games (beating overwhelming favourite Genzebe Dibaba)
2017 🥇 World Championships (with the Caster Semenya dynamic in the race dusting everyone including LR darlings Laura Muir and Sifan Hasan)
2019 🥈 World Championships (behind Sifan Hasan less than a year after giving birth)
2021 🥇 Olympic Games (in her own class. The rest of the field were competing for the minor medals, really)
2022 🥇 World Championships (after a frightening first lap from Gudaf Tsegay)
2023 3:49.11 World Record at the Diamond League in Florence, Italy obliterating Genzebe Dibaba's daunting time.
FAITH IS A LEGEND! The greatest 1500m runner in history.
Everyone who predicted this correctly in the survey should get a pair of the super shoes.
But, but, but ... Tuohy. 😥😥😥
Courtesy of Rojo of course, and our choice of the shoes.
All the 3:50 runners are doped to the gills, going back to the Chinese and Dibaba. Hey but if people need to celebrate a farce, have at it.
I don't think Faith is hated in this site (there is the big boss (*) of this site that reserve big threads for her exploit). What she did today is the achievement of a long road starting from 2012. But could the Kenyan bring another talent like her in the future. This doesn't seems obvious.
(*) History will mark that the big boss of the site made a praise thread to a young American miler in 2020 in which he implying indirectly that someone like Katir was a product of doping.
Now one has to look at his face in the mirror.
I will get to your post:
* In general, I look at TT with rabbits as faux racing, that said, congrats to Faith K.
* As long as an athlete can win international events, world record attempts are okay.
* O.P., did you say Faith K was taking p.e.d.s when she raced 2:29.xx 1000m a few years ago? Once Faith K raced 1000m in 2:29.xx, sub-3:50 1500m was possible for her.
The doping starts at the junior level in East Africa.
Wonder what she could run with male pacers. A female sub 4 mile likely will be possible soon - likely won't be legal, but this converts to a ~4:07, and she could get down to a 4:04 with even more training, doping, and perfect pacing.
Then imagine someone more talented than her training like Jakob since her youth.
Katir is obviously doping though. I'd be shocked if Jakob isn't doping as well, but Katir is so obvious.
Faith, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Hellen Obiri and others like Vivian Cheruiyot, Brigid Kosgei and Peres Jepchirchir all came back better and stronger after pregnancy and childbirth. Maybe something to consider.
PS. Her daughter is the spitting image of daddy Olympic bronze medalist Timothy Kitum.
And there are no teenagers in Africa either, right? xD Seethe.
The good thing about this thread is you can see how her stature has grown over the years.
Faith is running her first 5000m in a long time in Paris. Says she plans to move up after the Olympics next year.I think anything under 14:40 will be considered positive for her at this stage.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
