awesome race. feel bad for muir tho.

Hassan just ran out of gas in the final straight. Too bad.
Also - wouldn't have predicted Dibaba would be last (absent a trip/fall).

Um...obviously that there was a man in a woman's race. Just because the man got third doesn't mean it was fair...
Yeah, Sifan's move was just too strong there - knew she would pay for it later.
Simpson knows how to peak and knows how to race. Hat off to her!
With 450 to go, Muir got boxed and worked hard to move outside and push to the front. That move from 450 left to the bell looked very costly - she had to really push to do that. I think that was ultimately the thing that did her in.
Initially, I was thinking she was trying to pull a Centro a la Rio16. But she didn't respond like Centro when Hassan made the big move on the back stretch.

Simpson should already get moved up to gold for 2013.
Abeba Aregawi tested positive for Meldonium and Simpson is rightfully double world champion.
I just can't believe an intersex woman beat the home favorite in a dip for the bronze.
Sucks to be a brit right now.

Maybe because she's an 800m runner...
If you don't think she has an unfair advantage you have your eyes closed.
It's called excess testosterone that helps with a sprint speed. Women with normal testosterone levels simply cannot compete in a sprint down the stretch unless they have a big lead.

I think we saw such a reaction from Jenny's silver medal because she beat Caster. Shame he stole a medal from Muir, though.
And Dibaba. Remember, her fist pump at the end of the semi's was because she thought Dibaba was eliminated. I think Jenny's celebration was because she got a medal over the ones who she thinks are competing unfairly.
Never go full Webb :(

I feel for Muir the way I did for Pre in '72.
Wonderful intent and effort, but the execution came up short.
Wow, that was close! I predicted
1. Kipyegon
2. Hassan
3. Semenya
4. Muir
I never saw Simpson coming through for top 3!
And with Muir coming 4th, I predicted Britton will launch an appeal to oust Semenya and grand bronze to Muir. Let's now wait and see. This thing is not over.

I was rooting for Caster to win gold. Caster timed her last lap good but ran a bad race tactically. She ran virtually the entire thing in the middle of lane 2.

Semenya could have won if she wanted. Her timing was fantastic. Ran way further and faster than everyone else. Sneaking in for 3rd - brilliant! Now she can kill the 800 because gosh, didn't two women just beat her? Very smart race. I'm impressed.
great run by simpson. but timing her run perfectly would have meant gold . timed it best of the rest
Don"t want to make too much of this, as Simpson ran brilliantly, but man did she push through on the inside hard...she had no room. I would think there will be a DQ challenge there.
Why would you be rooting for Caster to win gold?

Huh? The space was open for her to move through. Why would she get a DQ - no contact, nothing ...
Jenny Simpson is one of the best competitors I have ever seen. This year and last year in Rio (and in 2013 and in 2011), I had counted her out of the medals because of her somewhat lackluster races up until then. But holy crap, she knows how to peak and knows how to time her kick perfectly. Her times are solid, but lacking compared to the women in these fields. And yet she always finds a medal.
GO JENNY!
great run by Simpson, what is up with Dibaba?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
