Anyone watch Pan Am Jrs? What did Cameron Cooper do to get DQd from 800 final?

I've been wondering the same.

Its sounds self explanatory as the rule states, "an athlete, after voluntarily leaving the track, shall not be allowed to continue..."

So, at one point or another, Cooper may have stopped and stepped off the track, but afterward still decided to finish.

Looking at the results it seems like the typical pattern for a race that went out way to hard, as the top two ran near lifetime bests but the rest of the field ran decently but not to their potential.

Without doing too much research I would just venture to guess Cooper took the pace out harder than he could handle and either felt the effects and faded between 600-700 or got tripped somewhere around 500. This leading him to walk off the track and maybe second guess his decision.

Sadly their isn't any video evidence or media coverage available right now so this could easily be waaaaaay off for all I know.

Hopefully Cooper can keep his chin up and still try to run well at JOs next week. I have a feeling he has room to improve on that 1:47.

Still haven't found a video of the race, but I have found the new streaming site. This was verified by the NSAF twitter account. However, bittersweet, as it costs a steep 10.00 for a subscription.

Good news is we know where to find footage if necessary now.

Cameron was exhausted in the last 50 meter of the race after Sanchez put forth a blistering pace that was too much for Cameron Cooper. Cooper was dead the last 50 meter and was passed by several runners. Cooper was so exhausted from trying to keep up with Sanchez the first lap that he accidently took a step into the infield for which he was disqualified.

Thanks for the input... if this is true he shouldn't have been DQ'd. Unless he impeded another runner at some point it's seems like a case of poor judgement by the officials. Voluntarily exiting the track on the final straightaway would give no advantage to an athlete.

Can you share any other details... his final time and first 400 split maybe?

He gives great interviews. Your post illustrates why you will never achieve his level. A used dishrag is something you should stop emulating.
