I have an inside view of the Tracktown operation and I can tell you that TTUSA is good at generating ideas but are pretty amateur behind the scenes.
The venue at Stanford always looks good and took no effort to make camera ready. The venue in Portland though is run-down community college facility. They gave no thought about how this place would look on camera and it looks awful. The shot put ring was cracked, the trees behind the American flag during the anthem had dead branches, and the grass needs to be cut and edged.

This Women's 3K is super boring...
They really need to turn these kinds of meets into time trials for men and women that were 4th or worse at USAs and any of the top 3 that want to be there. Fans love to see fast times and the love to see guts -- why have 8 to 12 of the top US distance runners in the same race and not set a really honest pace? We already had our tactical USA championships -- now give us some crazy times. Give time bonuses and pay someone really good to pace (maybe somebody that was top 3 at USAs / if they want?).
If Track wants to be popular we need to invest in it and athletes need to put it out on the line, especially if they didn't make the team. People are much more inclined to go out and see 10 USA distance runners paced at 13:00-13:05 pace and hope that one of them holds on to run something crazy as opposed to stupid tactical 3000 no one cares about.
This women's 3k is so slow. Garcia and Paquette are way ahead of everyone at 1k and they're only hitting 3:04. Slower than Garcia's 5k pace.
What's up with Garcia? She has such a terrible hitch in her gait. Super awkward looking.

but with the 3000m and watching McPherson do her amazing high jump thing (and finally cleared, whew) I am finally entertained

Why aren't the brooks and Oiselle sponsored athletes in uniforms that represent their teams? Nike, adidas,, NB, and Saucony are all doing it right.

Looks like the other 4 are just in generic uniforms that match the team color, no idea why brooks and oiselle are being different, my guess is branding.

Seems like a condition of being drafted and being on a TEAM would be to wear the team colors.

I know right, 2 Olympic teams, a 1:45 800, 3:32 1500, and 13:07 for 5k are such pathetic accomplishments. Sad!
I can understand cutting to field events in mile 2 of a 10K, but did they really just cut to a field event during an 800m?

The solid-color singlets with no decoration or branding are terrible. Makes the whole meet look amateurish. The Summer Series needs some sort of uniform deal.
These 1500 guys are so awkward with these introductions.
