Yeah, fine with me. He's been in England since he was in primary school (6/7/8 years old ish) and is therefore British as far as I'm concerned. Not even remotely similar situation.
I'm not against people contributing to other countries or even gaining citizenship in other countries, but this DOES NOT make someone American (in this example). Tell yourselves what ever you want, but these guys aren't there to serve on the front line in Iraq, they are part the army for the sole purpose of running for America, which for them is a much easier route to major championships than competing for their actual country.
You know, there is no NATIONAL SERVICE in the American armed forces. Everyone is a volunteer. This means everyone in the American armed forces has private motivations other than fighting for their country, which is probably lowest on their priority. Get a job, get an education, prepare for a career in the private sector. The WCAP athletes are simply doing what everyone else is doing, except their job is athletics. Do you think runners in the Kenya Armed Forces are there to fight wars?
Crazy old bas.tard
Do you have evidence that there are no non-elite athlete Kenyans trying to join the US Army? I don't have evidence that there are any, but I wouldn't be surprised if "regular" Kenyans (or people from any African country) want the accelerated path to US citizenship just to look for other opportunities in the US outside of athletics.
Farah moved to the UK when he was 8-years old. he's lived there for 26 years. How old are you?

Just type in one word MAVNI and you get you answers. More than 1000 Kenyans are currently serving in United States army

I actually think we should jettison nationality based competition and use an all-comers standard where federations have no say, (anyone under 3:33 or whatever in the 1500 is in) but thats another story.
I'll disagree on the rest of this post but I do like the idea of an all comers standard. Maybe still let countries choose 1-2 athletes to send and then also introduce an at large standard so competetive athletes don't get left out on the basis of being from a stacked country

How are you guys happy with this happening? They are not American, they do not serve in the US Army, they are literally Kenyan blokes training full time at the expense of the American public and making US teams at the expense of actual American athletes.
Such a joke...
Says the green-toof Limey... that's "rich."
Definitely a loophole .... this policy has totally hijacked US middle/long-distance running models. Very UNLIKELY that we'll see anyone other than East African immigrants wearing the red-white-blue singlet in the future. Folks would do best to play soccer, lacrosse, or whatever versus running. I don't know of one foreign professional basketball league that doesn't constrain the number of Americans on their team. Crazy!
