5x18 mile repeats two times a week
You're aerobically underdeveloped. The solution is more miles per week, tempo runs, long runs, and long repeats around 5K/10K pace (1000-1600m, more for 10K pace).
Run more miles. I'll disagree with the last poster. They don't necessarily need to be a bunch of tempos and workouts and whatnot. Just getting a lot more easy miles should make a huge difference. Tempos sure wouldnt hurt, though
