No more Dream Mile, good riddance. Beat back the mile.
Don't forget to pick your fantasy league team, slackers. Since I reminded you last week, the LR league improved dramatically on the overall leaderboard, to 6 of the top 100 and the individual #1. I want at least 5 of the top 10 by season's end for a decisive victory.
Can both the Ingebrigsten brothers win their respective races?
Would Norway have a national holiday if that happens?
What a shame to see the Dream Mile die. It holds a special place in my heart after seeing Coe run 3:47 to break the wr there. I can still see him flying behind Byers with 880 to go. I can also remember distinctly seeing Joe Falcon kick down Peter Elliot to win in 3:49. So many good memories at Bislett.

I wish we still got the reminder emails...I forgot to make my picks last week. well, I should say that I just missed the cutoff by 30min rather than forgot.
went from 13th in our league to like a hundred somethingth
Andreas Häkkala of our league is in the lead on the leaderboard and heading for the overall WIN.
It would not be cheating to copy his picks.

Yes, and yes.
They seem to have a lot of difficulty nowadays getting the best to follow the pacers in circuit miles--and 5000s and 3000s and steeples and 800s. So, the Dream Mile is not what it was. But here they are "keeping" the Dream Mile Norwegian to get a countryman to a good time and glory when he would probably run a faster time in the A race. This is a sham and a mockery and a travesty.
I am not sure many in Norway will miss the "Dream Mile".
When I was living in Norway (just 200m from Bislett) the Dream Mile was mostly regarded as an event to keep the Americans interested in the meet.
In general, Norway is a tiny country in the world of track. Bislett has always tried to promote the few Norwegian stars. Back in the days, it was Ingrid Kristiansen, Trine Hattestad, Vebjorn Rodal, Steinar Hoen, Hanne Haugland, Andreas Thorkilsen.
Right now the Ingebrigtsen family is keeping Norwegian track hearts alive.
Norwegian TV even followed the family over several programs, just go on youtube and you will find it.
My general view: Bislett is at its best when it is focusing on middle to long distance racing.
I have had many really nice experiences watching fast runnning.

The fans there aren't excited about Karsten Warholm just as much as the Ingebrigtsen brothers? By the way he has progressed and the level he is running now, he actually has a very good chance to medal at the World Champs, whereas I don't think the Ingebrigsten's do.
Since I am now living in the USA I should be a little careful talking for all Norwegian track fans.
Based on how much attention the Ingebrigtsens are getting in the press, I guess they are number 1.
But Karsten with his good look and soon even better times will get up there.
Geir Moen managed to be popular back in the days, so Karsten definitely has a shot :-)

Yes, and no national holiday.
Wintersports are far more important to norwegians than running (Norway is the most winning winter-olympians of all time).
Warholm is getting a lot of attention from media in Norway.
The clowns in the fantasy league are at it again. Transfers are supposed to close 2 hours before the 1st event, but they shut it down at least 12 hours before instead. I think they got mixed up between a.m. and p.m. or something.
And now transfers are open again, guess who you can thank for that, along with maybe some other geniuses who also notified them. Pick your team at 2:20pm UTC, whenever that is in whatever dirty hovel your moranic hide inhabits. Last chance, hurry up!
and by "at" 2:20 I meant before, obviously. Or at that time, have your team ready or you're sol.
Looking through the startlists, I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. Some good fields (like women's 800m) but also many events that are missing top-notch competition. What do you guys think?

Most of the events will be interesting. That "women's" 800 will be the only event I will refuse to watch.

You are probably the only one who has seen Coe run 3:47 at the Dream Mile in Oslo. And, is flying allowed at all in a Mile race?

Haven't looked at Stockholm DL entries yet, but with USA's in 8 days and Stockholm only 3 days away, Oslo was bound to have a less than stellar field.
