Molinaro is a "stud" with 0 d3 titles. who cares how fast you can run if you can't get it done. got 3RD outdoors, DNF last year, and 2nd indoors. not impressed by someone who's not even DIIIs best
I agree that is odd. He's been running great times all year, but lost to Ricketts in both indoor and outdoor.
He was DQ'd last year, he didn't DNF
It seems weird a 1:47 kid can't win D3, something must have happened to him in the race, or he just isn't a good championship racer? But everyone has bad races, maybe his just happened to be the national meet? He's beat Ricketts before, and was basically undeafted based off his TFFRs until nationals. But I agree, he's run the times, but now he needs to prove he can win the titles.
He might just not respond to rounds well. He lost in both national meets. And it's not like he had bad races--he still finished 2nd, so he didn't blow up or anything.
Mitch Black: runs 1:48 times and wins 4 straight 800m titles in DIII and never missed an 800m final in 4 years = nobody talks about him going pro
Matt Molinaro: has no titles and ran 1:47 one time = he could go pro
I bet whoever said Molinaro could go pro has a ONU student ID in their wallet.
Do you know why he got DQ'd?
I wonder what Emily would think about a bunch of guys talking about her on this site.
Emily is the name of my mother.
How do you feel now, Emily? Does this bother you so?
Mitch Black is "pro", he's on a club team in MI, and has run 1:48.1. Molinaro is a junior at a D3 college and has gone 1:47.7. Yes it's true, he hasn't won any titles, but he shows a lot of potential. No one even knows what happened to him during these races, or what his training is like. So I wouldn't judge his ability based off of winning a tilte. He has another year to get 2 or more if he runs multiple events. Either way it's not like he's going pro now anyway, he has a lot to work on and develop, but what is trying to be said is he has potential if he can run those kinds of times.
They should definitely go D1. Kent State would be a great place with their 800 studs...or Youngstown State...they'd already be Ohio State's top guys...but they'd get even faster there! Guaranteed. 99% of the time D1= sick times!

Stepped on the line in the first turn of the 800m prelims. Pretty stupid DQ considering he won the heat in 1:49.
Mary Richards turned the world on with her smile.
I believe that was in Minneapolis.
Maybe St. Paul.
Nobody talks about Black going pro cause he's getting a Ph.D. in astrophysics from Michigan. Like Richards, better opportunities in academics
Nick Symmonds was a biochemistry major
Way to go Emily. Into the USATF finals!
