Yeah, props to Kelly. She is and always will be a class act. Also, day-in and day-out, she trained as hard as anybody. She was always tough and never backed down.
For what it is worth, training at the Rock is great. Running wolf creek, long runs at Moraine or the Quarry. Lots of great back country roads and tons of tough hills...it really is a pretty good place to build strength and improve, from a training environment perspective.
One other thing...Pap has put together some good teams in the past. Back in the early 90's, with paco, slavinsky, etc., those guys were tough. I've seen him take a ladies team to Nats in XC in S.C. and finish ninth. He's capable of building a quality team...but, in the end, it's up to Wiess to run well...environment is secondary. It will mostly come down to heart, dedication, and desire.
