First, I thought Thorne was a smart kid. How could a top high school runner never have heard of Lindgren? Oh well.
Second, that article is deceiving. They are bringing in tons of talent, but there are handfuls of better runners that are not going.
This meet is stupid in the fact that they are going after a national record at altitude. The meet directors have to be retarded. Don't you think it would have been cooler to go after the national record in Hawaii, where Lindgren actually lives.
Good luck to everyone participating. I dont know why this meet is getting so much pub, when it is simply set up for failure.
goin out a limb here:
1. no natl record
2. no 8:30s
3. no 8:40s
4. likely mid-high 8:50s ... if an 'honest' race
* looks like weather will be ideal
* altitude will be the same as last xxxx yrs
(only one or two sub 4 miles ever ...)
* hardly anyone in Utah will know what is happening
