She's already faster than Budd over 800 and 1500 (and her 5k is intrinsically worth more than Budd's best of 14:48)
OK, I was wrong. Wow, what a runner.

Budd was world record holder and world cross country champion as a barefoot junior coming out of a pariah nation.
Klosterhalfen is absolutely fantastic though, and ultimately this best talent/junior nonsense is meaningless.
Who's the bigger talent out of Klosterhalfen and Gidey though? That could be one hell of a rivalry.

Budd is also African born, so.....

I AM AN IDIOT.
EURGH
She is now 3rd on the All Time German list and could get the 3:57.71 German Record this year, the 2 ahead of her are both over 60, Germany also has a 23 year old man (Homiyu Tesfaye) who ran under 3:32 for 1500 the third German to do so, and the other 2 men are now over 60, so Germany seems to be having a resurgence in the 1500 and maybe distance running overall.
Europe has another good runner who is about 1 year older than Konstanze Klosterhalfen who ran 14:36 for 5000 (Yasemin Can of Turkey) and Laura Muir is still in her early 20's so Europe has some good young Distance talent for the first time in a long time.
Also Sifan Hassan who ran 3:56 is in her early 20's and the 3 ingebrigsten brothers who are 16- mid 20's, these 3 could be the best 3 runners at 1500 from a European Country since, Coe, Ovett and Cram, they are not there yet, but the times they are already running and their youth indicate that kind of potential.
Tesfaye and Hassan are Ethiopian imports, Can is from Kenya
I'll give Hassan and Tesfaye a pass, because they are actually living in their adopted countries and can speak the language, but Can is nothing more than a paid mercenary for Turkey
Just wait until she goes through puberty. Don't expect her to ever run much faster than her current PBs.

She might be the greatest non-African born talent in history. She's everything Alberto Salazar wanted Mary Cain to be.
My goodness. Fearless racer. If it ends up that her best event is like 10k or the marathon, like it was for Paula, watch out!!!
Wait, what? What sort of upside down twilight zone are we in? Doesn't Radcliffe hold the WR? (and you even referred to Radcliffe!!) Should we not be asking if Hassan, Obiri, and Dibaba may be the greatest non-Eurasian born talents?
Or are we talking strictly the 1500? In which most of the the top 10 of all time are Euro or Asian. ...with none being Muir or Budd..

Zola Budd.
Not sure what part of "non-African born" is so hard to grasp...

I know, the country she represented has "Africa" in it, wow

3:59.3
Got him
Just asking this question and tracking these stats, people are sadly limiting themselves. Weak minded. Not the mindset for greatness. Shows a lack of understanding.
It's also only early June. Klosterhalfen has already run big PRs in every event, and there's still over 2 months until Worlds. She has plenty of time to run even faster this season. All of Budd's PRs are from the end of August/early September (not discounting how good she was, but Klosterhalfen is effectively a bigger talent). I think her best event is gonna be the 5k in the future. 3:59 in a competitive race placing 3rd is very impressive, but 14:51 solo with a negative split is nasty.

BTW, couldn't you just eat up Konstance!
Cute just doesn't cover it!
Rumor out of Nike U.K. Is that she is out for 6 weeks from injury. Also will add that the young German has an obvious eating disorder. That bright flash does not last for long, and typically ends up badly.

Well, she did also run for GB. But I hold my hands up; an utterly idiotic comment from me. Engage brain in future.
she will break 4, this will most likely happen. but weather, pace, form on the day play a role as usual.
what a talent! the race was like a time trial.
as some have written here, her future might be on longer distances. her natural speed will outmatch almost all competitors. with all due respect: she is a lean runner type and after watching the race video, i have the impression that she could keep a long stride while her upper body will need a little bit more strength (arm movement).
Your English in the post was perfect, though I'm not a fan of using "u" instead of "you" (is it really that much harder to type y-o-u?). In fact, your English is better than about 75% of the participants on this board, and certainly better than RoJo's who seems through his father to somehow have picked up George W. Bush's mangled syntax and terrible grammar. Please don't assume that any of the writing on this board is correct English, including (maybe even especially) the articles written by the LRC staff!

Case in point on this post: it's "she and Hassan" when it's the subject of the sentence for God's sake!

Total nonsense. The race may not turn out to be fast, but she's obviously capable if things fall into place. As a front runner and having demonstrated great form, I'd not bet against her breaking 4 in this race. With a bit of luck her and Hassan can battle all the way to keep it fast.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
