That would be great. She is my favorite female athlete. She is amazing.
So tough. 25 years later, she is still 15-20 minutes ahead of me :)
She is the best US all time marathoner, male or female, for both fast times in her prime and running at a world class level for a long period of time.
She was running 2:21-2:22 over thirty years ago, those times still win majors today.
Also she is a clean athlete, which is the most important parameter in evaluating a runners talent.
The fact that she has not broken down with any major injuries over the years that would derail her running is amazing.
I hope she crack three hours.

State o' Maine gal and trained outdoors through all them win-tuhs.
As they say up theyahh, "she's as tough as a boiled owl."
I'm shocked that a 60 yo woman has yet to break 3, considering that the 50 yo record is 2:31, and that drug cheating is relatively easy for masters runners.
It would be great if NOP and Alberto took her under their wing for this project. It would be great PR.
You want to guess which record is doped?2:31:05 Tatyana Pozdniakova (UKR)

I don't doubt that one bit.

Joan's a legend, and I would be super pleased if she broke 3 at Chicago. What a great woman and a fine runner. I wish female runners today were as classy as Joan is.
Darris Blackford, director of the Cols. Marathon, asked her if she would make her attempt in Columbus. She's committed to trying in Chicago, although she might go to Cols. if things don't work out.
She won the 1992 Cols. Marathon, by the way. I was in that race, albeit a good ways behind her. That was her last major marathon victory.
Another indication of Joan's long time elite running is that she is the only female to have run a sub 3 hour marathon in five different decades, a feat that has not been accomplished by many males.

Alberto has nothing to teach Joan about the marathon.
Who cares. That's slow. What's it matter if it's a women
Love her!
Hope she stays healthy and be the potential final torch bearer of LA 2024 :)
I would love to see her do it! I am one year younger than Samuelson and she has been a source of awe and inspiration to me throughout my running career.
