A flat race with pacers galore and crisp fall weather vs. a hilly course with weather reaching the high 60's/low 70's and high humidity for the second half of the race. Something to think about.

Paul's time set in 2003 is the best; but...Juma's time in NYCity of 2:08:01 (equal to a 2:06:59-2:06:00 on a flat course, my opinion) in 1989 is better then Jifar's 2:07:43 from 2001
Juma's race was unbeleivable.( pulling away from Steve Jones on first ave.) You think it's better because he ran more of the course alone, conditions? Please elaborate.
all of that & the HILL(S) that came at 23 miles!
Yeah, I suppose it's possible that the old course ate more time off Juma's pace.
Ndeti's '94 in Boston is still the best male marathon performance in my opinion.
Something to consider is that Tergat actually went the wrong way in his WR marathon, had to turn around and go the right way...not sure how much time it cost him...maybe 10-15 seconds...maybe less maybe more.
