When Hillary threw all Trump supporters into the Basket of Irredeemable Deplorables how many Democrats stood up and said "Now wait a minute! That's going way too far! I know a lot of Trump supporters who are decent people." ? If that happened anywhere I certainly didn't see it.
Spare us the cries for civility and compassion, Gary. Ann Coulter has built her entire career out of saying far worse things about liberals. So have Limbaugh, Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, etc. etc. etc. I can find a video from the mid 2000s of Newt Gingrich blaming liberals for the Columbine shooting. The glue that has bound the Republican Party together for decades is the idea that liberals are bad and can be blamed for every conceivable societal ill. You yourself have accused liberals of being genocidal maniacs who want to create some sort of secret welfare program that only minorities have access to in order to keep them voting D.
Here's a question: should Universities be required to allow anyone to give a speech? What are they supposed to do if a student group invites a radical Islamic speaker to give a speech about how all of the Jewish people at their school are part of a genetically inferior race? Is there a line and, if so, where is it? I don't agree with shutting her down but, given some of Ann Coulter's fine contributions to the public discourse below, I don't see why it's so outrageous that people might want to draw the line at her feet:
"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote."
"Americans cannot comprehend how their fellow countrymen could not love their country. But the left’s anti-Americanism is intrinsic to their entire worldview."
"Most public schools are, at best, nothing but expensive babysitting arrangements, helpfully keeping hoodlums off the street during daylight hours. At worst, they are criminal training labs, where teachers sexually abuse the children between drinking binges and acts of grand larceny."
"If he had only said he bombed the building in Oklahoma City to protest American “imperialism,†McVeigh, too, could be teaching at Northwestern University, sitting on a board with and holding fundraisers for presidential candidate B. Hussein Obama."
"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'fagg0t,' so I—so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."
"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours."
"Why not go to war just for oil? We need oil."
"Aren’t we the ones who should be arrogantly oppressing countries that unaccountably do not have the death penalty?"
"It is preposterous to assume every passenger is a potential crazed homicidal maniac. We know who the homicidal maniacs are. They are the ones cheering and dancing right now. We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."
The "backbone of the Democratic Party" is a "typical fat, implacable welfare recipient"
