It's your opinion people.
If you like REM better, you are right.
If you like U2 better, you are right.
Whatever moves you.
Trying to argue this to change someone's mind is maybe the most inane thing you can do.

I think there really was something called "Achtung for the People". It's been ten years since I heard it. I think it was a benefit concert or something. Anyway, this recording has the version of "One" that is sung by Michael Stipes with The Edge on guitar.
Does anyone know where I can find a copy of this?
I think the Simpsons performance is the best criteria yet.
I really can't get into either of the bands more recent albums. I lost REM somewhere after A.F.T.People and U2 after Achtung Baby. U2 has probably put out more top quality songs since then but whereas they were 2 of my favorite bands through the mid '90's I rarely sit down and listen to an album by either one now.
When I was very into them both I was definately a bigger REM fan but looking at it now U2's entire body of work is more impressive. Both great bands, in my opinion, though.
One Tree Hill and One are better than Red Hill Mining Town. I went to every concert incling Boy and War. I am 36 jerk off. I just think that Buetiful Day, Walk On and Elevation are pretty good songs, all better than REM even if it's not U2's best effort. Now go screw yourself dork.

U2 is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. REM? Don't think so.
I'm hoping that you realize that REM is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame only because they're not eligible yet...
I've got some bad news for all you U2 fans out there. Joshua Tree deffinately was throwing some elbows around the first mile and needs to be disqualified. REM wins by default.
I might be able to stomach U2 if someone would teach that dip-shit how to play rhythm guitar and they got rid of that shitty drummer.[/quote]
Yeah, not being able to play rhythm guitar has really hurt their success. As for the shitty drummer, if you have ever listened to U2 idiot, they have created a certain sound that is unique to U2. Part of that sound is the way that they play. How could you be so dumb? My guess is that you are some bitter eighth grade music teacher who thinks that you could play more "technically" correct. The problem is the difference between you and U2 is both a legacy that will last for ever and about $200 million in net worth. Please go back to your meaning less life. Thank you.
