Are there good races near to where you are living, or will racing require major travel? Can you use foreign races to qualify for US OT?
My fastest 400 ever was a 55. I just don't have much top end speed. Always been that way. Probably should have run the 800 more in high school. As for races, there's not a lot around here. In Malawi itself I've gotten into a few races. I was able to run that 1500m at the opening ceremony for a new national stadium they built in the capital. I also was allowed into the national XC championship race. Beyond that most stuff is expat organized and is more for fun than competition. I'm going to Lusaka Zambia at the end of April for a half marathon and there are lots of races in South Africa, but it's very expensive to fly anywhere from Malawi. Lucky for me we are heading back to the states in two months, my wife's contract was for 9 months, so qualifying races won't be a problem once we return.
