Droddy has been racing at a higher level than Vail as of the last year plus. Perhaps Droddy is $$$ worthy. Good guy to build a campaign around for HS and College runners

Very good improvement but lets not get carried away. 1:01:48 is still the halfway split for top tier marathons.
Congrats, keep working and aim for 60:00
He's of the Will Leer and Ben Blankenship lineage.
Net tailwind in NYC vs Humid in Houston - not that surprising.
His 5k PR from H.S. is over 16:30 - that must be rare to go from that to a half-marathon 1:02! Excited to see what he can do in the future!

Umm, I'm not sure why Ryan Vail has been inserted into the convresation. Vail has dealt with 2 stress fractures and a stress reaction since 2014. So, I would certainly expect a fully healthy person to race better.
Droddy has made some significant improvements and has a lot of upside potential ahead of him. But he's made one Olympic Trials and finished DFL. His 61:48 is indicative of what's to come.
Vail has run 27:44 and 2:10. He's also got an 11th and 6th place finish at Olympic Trials (marathon / 10k); several top 6 USA Champs finishes; top American at major marathon (NYC); and a top 20 finish at World XC when USA brought home the silver medal.
You have no argument.
when you get a bunch more sub 30 college guys running good mileage at altitude, you'll get a lot more 1:01s and 1:02s just like in Japan. And if they had great training partners like in Kenya, you'd see them running 59s and 60s. It is (almost) all about the training.

Exactly. Well said. And earning $250,000 isn't rich and don't even tell me about your model wife. I'm glad there are people like you.
Part of the same group as Alia Gray, who posted top 10 finishes at the Oly Trials and Chicago Marathons in 2016. Dr Hansen is doing something right up there in CO. Roots Running might be a group to watch this year.
Is Noah Droddy a elite runner?

Yeah!

Why so many half marathons? Six in 18 months. Is this his best distance? Best payout for pro runner? Good work on his part--well done.
Six in 18 mos? You think that ONE every three mos is a LOT?
Notice that SIX of the seven listed were NOV-JAN-APR and NOV-JAN-MAR. They were WINTER half-marathons and you can CERTAINLY run a 13 mile race several times with TWO-MONTHS rest between EVERY ONE.
70s and 80s distance runners would race 50 times per year. Why would you even notice this?
Saucony just signed Droddy.
Good for him.
He did a very insightful episode on the Roots Running Podcast several weeks ago with his coach Ryan Hansen. A must-listen for all Droddy-heads

$250k per year isn't rich and wont get you a model wife. It's certainly comfortable. Rich vs. non-rich is more defined by wealth than salary.
250k for one guy is more than comfortable. Ik most ppl on here live "comfortably." But I would say even half that would still be quite liveable

It is beyond comfortable outside the urban decay zones (or outside the suburbs). In fact, in most of Red America, it is really really rich. Rich vs. non-rich is very much defined by location.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
