Not medaling in Rio when we later learn she had a 3:55 in her can definitely be considered CHOKING. Getting your panties in a bunch over it and calling it daft is just too bad. There have been many instances where a non medalist has beaten the Olympic champion in one off circuit races.
Big whoop!
It's not significant if it hasn't yet translated into a major medal.
Plus, how are we so sure her performances are any more legit than that of her competitors?
A reasonable assertion about her chances in a major championship should be based on her win/loss record in... major championships; you and I both know what that record looks like. Let's not p*ssyfoot around that.
So what if she didnt achieve sub 2 in ONE attempt. More than half the women on the 1500 all-time time list own 800m bests under 2 minutes. It's virtually always a requisite to even touch 3:55....
I don't own a pair of rose colored glasses (or black for that matter, whatever the hell that means). I even have doubts about the gold medal chances of Genzebe, one of my favorite (mid) distance runners. The skepticism I apply to her is obviously the same skepticism I'm going to apply to Muir.
Its really that simple chap.
