He is no Will Leer!
I've followed Merber pretty closely and am definitely a fan. In college he was a bad championship racer. I do think he's a much different athlete now. First round of trials was his 2nd or 3rd race after a stress fracture (sacrum/hip?) so I thought his trials performance was actually quite impressive in my book. Also thought finishing 6th was a solid performance as well. Losing to 5 guys- all 1500m Olympians. I think he
This indoor race is simple to me- NJNY doesn't train at altitude like these other guys. (Blankenship-Flag, Soratos-Bozeman, Bowerman- various places) Cabral has been known to hit altitude and have success but not sure any of these guys are in that group. I wasn't surprised he didn't do that well after running hard at BU and the race being at altitude. Credit to Soratos for running the guys that don't train at altitude out of the race.
Reading between some lines on a number of posts that seem negative I get the feeling the posters are frustrated he is not as good as they believe he could be at this point.

Will show up in domestic meets and run well... Have you hoping he's fit and ready to go... Have you hoping he can be the kind of guy that works himself all the way to a WC or Olympics... He just doesn't have it in USA champs races, it looks like. Rounds in USA outdoors just leaves him with even less of a chance of being top 4 or 5.
dude again?
