Maybe he knows the race will be faster than 3:50 Olympic 1500 pace (with 70-second laps!) and is scared to get dropped by Jenkins.

Centro has openly said that this year is about time-chasing. Who cares about seeing him "compete"?!?! He has already shown himself to be the best tactician out there ( please refer to 2016). He led the OLYMPIC field from start to finish and LRC still complained. It doesn't get any more competitive than that.

Hopefully, he is trying to time trial an AR a la Galen Rupp. I personally love watching that type of stuff. I thought people here did too.

Who is he ducking in the Wanamaker mile? Manzano? Merber? Why would you want to see him win against the same people that he always wins against?

You're missing the point entirely. Compete was in quotations. Clearly, if there was some race going on with a bunch of legit studs chasing after sub-7:30 or something, I would love to see Centro hop in and compete. He would be undoubtedly be towed to a great time.

That is not what is happening in the upcoming 3000m race though. If Centro ran, he would simply end up trying to out kick someone for a ho-hum 7:35-7:40 finish. Yawn.

I personally think Centro should have reverse the order but I'm excited to see him run the 2M at Millrose cause the field is not soft, he will get challenged

Yes, he did say he was chasing fast times this year, but he also said he was just going to compete at the 2M at Millrose so I don't think he's going for the record

The 5k has the advantage in the 3k over a miler. I gaurentee if you take the top 8 5k guys and the top 8 1500m guys in the US, the 3k guys would dominate.

I really wanted to see Murphy vs Centro in the Wanamaker mile, that would be exciting. But then ask yourself? Why is Murphy running the 3k? Isn't he kind of ducking Centro in the mile today?

Centro isn't ducking anyone. The 2mile At millrose is the premiere distance event

If he wasn't in that race people would be saying He's ducking the competition.

Centro knows his limitations. He was never the fastest, or anywhere near it, but is a good tactician and strategist. To each his own.

Centro has a 1500m PR of 3:30.40 while the Brit Steve Ovett has a 1500m PR of 3:30.77.

In conclusion:

1) Steve Ovett totally sucked compared to Centro.
