Interesting article in WSJ about the economic differences between R/D counties
The divide is becoming greater so you can expect tensions to continue to rise.

I know in 2016 the average Trump voter made MORE money than the average Hillary voter. Do that trend remain true?

The economic divide sucks, but at the same time, educated people make more money. Just a simple fact. Ironic that those in red areas are so against Socialism and Communism (so am I by the way), and yet those two systems would help them be more in line salary-wise with educated people.
We should do all we can to help ANY disenfranchised group in this country...minorities (both racial and in any other way), lower income, whatever. Again though with the irony...red areas are typically pro-capitalism. Well, capitalism says that educated people make more money. Duh.

Not so ironic. Better to be out of line salary-wise at $50k vs $100k than in line at $15k vs $15k.
She signed a prenuptial agreement so there won't be much negotiation. The word is that she was opposed to living in the WH and used the threat of a divorce to negotiate a more favorable agreement.
I think she'll dump him after they leave the WH, but we'll see

She has her ticket punched to Canada.

Well, ok. Fair point.
I will add that there is a lot of hatred of educated people by those in the red areas, and a lot of that has to do with the fact we make more money and have easier work lives. If they were true to what they believe about people being able to make as much as they can, they shouldn't be so jealous.

it's going to be a while before we know data like that. Usually we have exit polls, but because of the pandemic, we don't have them this year. People voted by mail and didn't want to talk to people outside polling booths.
Later there will be some analysis of actual data...that will help answer some questions. But it will be a while.

I think it's a lot less about salary and a lot more about urban types telling rural people what to think about everything from transsexuals to guns.

Wait...you think she's going to divorce a man in his late 70s who is a proven loser who will be shown to not be wealthy, has legal problems out the wazoo and who has heart disease and is incontinent? Why EVER would that be? I know why.

They might THINK we tell them what to think, but that's not accurate. We just state our opinions and fight for those stances. The fact is that most Americans want more gun control and support the rights of people in the LGBTQ+ community.
If a dumb@ss redneck doesn't want to use a bathroom with a transsexual in it, then he/she can hold it.

Agreed all around. The hatred is palpable.

it's true that *most* americans want LGBTQ rights and more gun control, but we're talking about the 1/3 of the nation that is trumpist here. If we're trying to understand them, we have to deal with their pushback at being told what is appropriate to think.
One of trump's big winners was that he was fighting for 'religious liberty' which is code for supporting discrimination against gays and trans people.
the cultural divide is enormous and explains a lot.
Conversely, urban types are tired of rural types hectoring us about and how anything that falls outside of their narrow views on tradition and religion is wrong. Seems that everyone has forgotten the concept of "live and let live".

WaPo:
Trump has yet to concede the 2020 election, but already, nearly two-thirds of Republicans in New Hampshire, the first presidential primary state, say they would like to see him run again in 2024, according to a new poll.
In the Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, the idea of Trump running again was hardly universally embraced.
Stocks soar as Trump exit becomes clear.
DJIA goes over 30,000 on news that government agencies open up transition.
The business of America is business. Business knows who they want in government, and it's clear they don't want a lunatic like Trump.
Trump fans should go back to being outliers, stay out of the way, and let American business grow for the benefit of all. Trump fans, and their anti-capitalist mentality, will soon be nothing more than a bad hangover from days gone by.
If you Trump fans can't cut it in America's system of free enterprise, go back to your trailers. The REAL America is back, and you are in the way. America = Poise and Moxie. And you're not invited anymore.

Fox News is working to buy Trump off. Murdock paying Trump hundreds of millions to shut the f*** up. Murdock will be throwing his money away. Not a chance Trump stops making noise. Even few billion dollars of Murdock's money won't be enough to keep Trump silent.

People can think anything they want. Trump told us illegal immigrants are rapists and/or murderers, the press was the enemy of the people, various Democrats should be charged with treason , the phone call was perfect and Democrats wanted open borders,to take our guns and destroy religion and even Christmas.
Somehow, 79,845,568 people voted against him.
