Lets be honest. Dems have not offered anything interesting, innovative or exciting even. But that's partly because they could get away with it in light of the current WH and because it's a safe play. We don't have a trump equivalent, and I agree it is boring. He was effective as his goal of destroying the kitchen. Are we going to have an effective Dem in the WH? Probably it will just be back to the old way. Unfortunately, the lack of intellect and involvement of the voter base has gotten us to this - we have suffered a huge decline in political innovation and effectiveness of governance. We have a vulnerable system. Our immediate need is stability but that wont solve the long term issue that has been exploited by trump.
dem leadership is mostly technocratic - the warren cry 'I have a plan for that' is the most Democratic thing imaginable. Esp since it's from a Harvard professor.
Dems think politics is looking at a problem, applying facts and science and empathy and coming up with a government solution.
R leadership is much more active, theoretical and fun. Rs are selling hate, fear and entertainment...much more sellable than policy. 'They want to take your guns and kill babies' works a lot better than 'medicare for all will cost you more in taxes but you get it back from lower health care costs. '
advantage R in a democracy. But we all lose for it.
bring back movement conservatism, please. Then we can have a rational talk.
