You said, "They are not nasty and evil." That is all encompassing, and I am saying that that statement is not true. MOST of them or even the VAST MAJORITY of them are not nasty and evil, but I reject the notion that all of them are not. Maybe that's not what you meant, but it is what you said.
And, yes, I do know many nasty Christians. I grew up going to church every week at least once a week, and I saw and heard a lot of things during my 30+ years of being a regular church goer, and I eventually left my once very liberal Methodist Church due to nasty evil people both at my particular church and also within the "world" Methodist Church".
Christians, and again, those who identify as part of the Religious Right or such arms of Christianity can be very nasty and evil...again, my experience tells me that there are more nasty and evil people as part of a Conservative Christian group than any other group in the US. I can't speak for outside the US.
My experience isn't unique. Jed Smock, the Westboro Baptist Church, people who do evil things in the name of Christianity in the US and across the globe, and then just judgmental unkind people I have seen at church gatherings across this country (most of those people just nasty, not evil, though definitely some evil ones among them). I have told you before that Christianity would be better off if more Christians had your attitude. That is still true, of course.
