That part is just your personal opinion. You are entitled to your opinion just like everyone.
And you just had to comment to reinforce your opinion, because? . . . A: You are trolling.
Be sure to completely re-write Nixon’s life story, conceal all the lies, and tell me how “close” to the action & a Purple Heart & being a POW & Reserves are all alike! Dumba$$!

I wouldn't have wanted to risk my life in Viet Nam so I'm not going to criticize either Clinton or Trump for not going. The difference is that Trump markets himself as being a super patriot and likes to hug the flag. He recently claimed that being Commander-in-chief and increasing the military budget makes up for him not going to Viet Nam
Trump is the first boastful draft-dodging President. There is no equivalence between his failings and that of any other POTUS before him.

I don't understand why people consider Trump to be so hard to beat in 2020. His track record is terrible.
His track record is outstanding. We have an unprecedented economic miracle after years of carnage. He replaced the worst trade deal in history (NAFTA) with the greatest deal ever (USMCA). . .
The Mexico tariff thing violates that "greatest deal ever (USMCA)". If you think it's a great thing, Trump just sunk it.

Nixon might have been many things, but he wasn't a draft dodger like Clinton and Trump.
You forgot to mention draft dodger Bush the Shrub.

What do you think soldiers do all day?
I've seen many soldiers on rock painting detail because the unit mascot/insignia outside the company arranged in a bed of rocks was getting faded.
Most of the day to day life of a soldier has nothing directly to do with their actual job. It's all general soldier stuff like vehicle maintenance, equipment layouts, area beautification, mandatory annual online training or briefings, and the always timeless "hurry up and wait".

Hmmm ... maybe you were never involved with practice for military construction projects. I am not military, but have worked on military projects for many years, and have been on numerous bases. There is a lot of training and simulation going on. I have seen troops out fast-building pre-fab structures, and setting up a landing field made up of interlocking, perforated-steel slats. Speed and accuracy are both important, and some troops are certainly doing that type of prep.
But, painting a border wall for no real reason, and doing actual training and preparation, is just one more thing that proves how clueless Cadet Bone Spurs is.
You're right. There's always training going. on. Someone is out in the field larping. That doesn't mean your unit is currently doing that. I was the CBRN NCO for an Engineer unit which had both vertical and horizontal construction companies. So yes they train to do their jobs....but it's far from an everyday occurrence.

The Seabees are the troops I saw doing building, and learning to do it fast. That is their full-time work for the Navy … they are a construction battalion. . I saw then working while doing a project for the Navy at Port Hueneme.
On the project I helped the Navy with, the Seabees were tasked with installing a photovoltaic system. They reused solar panels (photovoltaic) from some other project. They also installed a make-shift solar hot water system. And they set up battery storage for power use at night, using an old submarine storage battery they refurbished. Even though the entire project was built on a base connected to the energy grid, the Navy wanted that project to be entirely off-the-grid, and the building was used to bring Navy officers to learn what the Seabees could do.
The bottomline is, some troops do a lot more that you might realize. And they do it full-time.

Yup, good old hurry up and wait. That’s why most of my fellow jarheads took up smoking and on enough down time always ended up doing something really stupid. A Marine from my old unit became a really fast swimmer while stationed “guarding” a south Iraq airbase. The base had a 50-meter pool and he and a couple of seals would swim 2-3x a day. So not all was lost with hurry up and wait I guess.
Seems like you guys are okay with Trump ordering troops to paint the border wall. Trump wants it painted black because black absorbs heat and the hot black metal would fry those trying to climb over. That appears to be Trump's "thinking" on why painting the wall black is needed to deal with his emergency at the border.

Of course we are not okay with it, but that order is not the least bit surprising. What else did you did expect from the fearless leader? I guess it is surprising he didn’t want it painted mafia gold.
And what do these crews do when they don't have a project?

So I guess extortion works. Sets a bad precedent. Diplomacy through threats.
reminds me obliquely of something I heard once, in a discussion of which branch of the armed services was best.
The marine guy said, basically, that if you have a project to be done, whether it is killing someone, dissembling a truck, climbing a mountain or reaching enlightenment, a group of Marines would do it best.
I always loved that idea and hope it is true. I know the Marines should probably be subsumed into the Navy, but having a culture like that must be amazing.

Gold? Great idea. That would blind people who got too close to the wall.
The marines think highly of themselves. The Army and Marines have similar jobs and are trained similarly. The Army has a lot more people. Marines don't even have their own medics. Army wins.
The military throws 10 ppl at a job 1 person could do.
