I'll try to be more clear. I'm not saying there's never been a national emergency justifying the use of the National Emergency Act. I'm saying that in this particular instance, there doesn't seem to be a true national emergency.
I disagree. Hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring into a country definitely qualifies as an "emergency."
Prove it.
“We don’t have exact numbers,” Ms. Cohn said, “but, from what we know, it appears that a majority of recent arrivals in 2016 are not unauthorized immigrants who crossed without documents, but people who arrived on legal visas and overstayed their deadlines to leave.”
Such immigrants, who typically have the means to enter the country legally but have not been granted permission to stay beyond a certain period, “probably constituted most of the recent unauthorized immigrant arrivals in 2016,” according to the report.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/27/us/illegal-immigrants-population-study.htmlEven if your "hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring into a country" is true, how many of them will be stopped by a wall? A wall will do nothing to stop people who come here legally and overstay their visa, which seems to be the bigger issue with illegal immigration to the USA.
At a cost of probably $25 billion and with minimal return, you must not mind the federal government wasting your tax money.

Not just any old car but a solar-powered car so you would need to pay for fuel. So, free car and free fuel. Wow!
Right. So you expect us to just believe illegals are going to stop coming here for no reason. Good argument there buddy.

That sounds great! I hope they throw some cash in the glove-compartment too for those unwilling to work. They deserve it!
Not sure if you meant to respond to my post, since I didn't say what you apparently think I said.

You are wrong. Just because something pours doesn't make it an emergency.
Right now the rain is pouring outside my house. It's not an emergency.

There were over 7100 hate crimes reported to the FBI in 2017 alone. Even if all 350 fake hate crimes occurred in 2017, that'd be like .05%.
No, it'd be a hundred times larger: 5%.
When McCabe opened a counterintelligence investigation against Individual-1, the gang of eight was informed about it.
That means four Republican leaders did not object.
Mitch McConnell was told, but did not object.
Richard Burr was told, but did not object.
Paul Ryan was told, but did not object.
Even Devin Nunes was told, but did not object.
So much for the witch hunt theory.

if we have an emergency now, how did the country must have really had a terrible time after 1990, when illegal immigration was 4x higher than now. I mean there must have been rising crime, economic crises....oh wait, I'm hearing the 1990s were a time of mass prosperity and falling crime.

Many of the posters on this board live in circumstances that make real interchanges with "the other half" a rarity. They simply don't get much exposure to the *majority* of Americans who don't go to a four-year college.
Despite the once in a blue moon crime committed by an illegal, the high flow of migrant workers into the US has been excellent for our economy and in turn quality of life. The problem we have is not having better control of that flow. You are an idiot if you think any of the businesses that depend on this cheap labor believe there is a crisis. They love it and we all have been benefiting from it. In fact it would be a real economic crisis if you stopped this flow of cheap labor. The wall is at best a knee jerk reaction to appease angry white people who don’t live in border states but need to blame somebody else for their demise. Illegals aren’t going to stop coming here as long as there is a financial incentive. The wall will not remove those financial incentives therefore the wall is a huge waste of money. Take away their ability to work here by imposing strict regulation on employers and conducting audits with steep punishment and their numbers will be limited. The wall is a huge waste of money and Trump knows it, which is exactly why it was never a “crisis” until just now. So why isn’t this crisis directed at a proper solution????
I will say something that most liberals will not say, and it just further proves that I have a clear vision of what is going on and do not have any liberal blinders on that I am often accused of (which is beyond ridiculous).
While illegal immigration, ESPECIALLY at the southern border, has dropped steadily over the last 9 years, it has continued to in a large part BECAUSE OF TRUMP. His railing against immigrants, legal or illegal, DOES make this country a less-attractive place for them to come...fear they might not be let in, fear they would be quickly deported, fear that if they have a child here that that child will not be allowed to stay later on if found out, fear that they will be treated poorly by an emboldened public.
So, CRAZY CAN get results sometimes. As with anything, you need to look at the means used to get a desired result...and in the case of DACA children and LEGAL immigration including people seeking asylum, he is way past the line of decency.
Americans are not having babies at a replacement rate currently. A population that grows means more jobs and more taxes collected (as long as companies stop hiring illegals).

You are arguing that basically anything the government does is socialis*t* but not socialis*m*?
Yes, I'm arguing to brand socialist programs (vs a system of total socialism) as a good thing.
Social security is socialist
Medicare is socialist
Public schools are socialist
Public roads are socialist
Public funding of our military is socialist
Public hospitals are socialist
People like these things. They do not want them taken away.
Re-brand the word.
Say that Republicans want to take these things away. They are anti-social!
No, you're confusing socialism with necessary "services". For a society to run smoothly, certain things are needed. That doesn't each thing socialistic. Public hospitals are NOT socialist. You're almost getting as bad as your confused leader Flagpole, please don't turn into him.

Plants. Weapons. Jared cannot see any connection because there is $$$ for him involved.
Nobody wants to have this serious conversation because we all know our country is a melting pot with all our ancestors coming from abroad (obviously excluding native Americans who were granted citizenship in 1924 btw). With the exception of a few federal acts that targeted specific groups and limiting total number of immigrants, the US has had nearly open borders throughout history. It’s moronic to spend billions on a wall without any proof of how effective it will be and without actually understanding what the underlying problem is

Another beauty of a post. Comparing rain and criminal aliens, drugs, etc. Smart.
