So much to cover, and so little time. I will try to do this without going back to first principles, but it will be more chaotic that way.
The most helpful thing you need to know right off the bat is how to look at the political landscape, the people in it, how they behave and why. This is how to do that:
Politics is a team sport.
So you should look at the political parties as teams on a playing field, with people as hard core fans cheering for their team, ignoring fouls by their own guys while thinking that every foul by the other team is a crime against humanity. The way you win the game is by convincing fans from the other side to come over to your side of the stands.
The MSM/Academia/Harveywood are the cheer leaders for the Democrat/liberal team and it's their job to make sure that liberal fans don't see fouls committed by Democrats, while doing everything they can to make it look like the Republican/conservative team are cheating every step of the way.
The result of the MSM cheer leading is wall of misinformation, lies, innuendo, smears, and obfuscation that creates an alternate reality I call the Liberal Media Rat Maze, where liberals who don't actively try to pay attention to what's happening on the field end up believing the MSM cheers (their own side's propaganda) which has very little to do with what's happening in the real world. This is what it means to get stuck in the Liberal Media Rat Maze.
Getting out is simple, but almost impossible at the same time. All you have to do is stop listening to the cheers, and see what's happening on the field. For example, Dems/liberals portrayed Trump's tax cuts as a disaster for the country and a mega disaster for the little guy, but if you look at the playing field the economy boomed and unemployment is down to record levels for minorities. The Rat Maze is an illusion. See reality, and you're out!
That sounds easy to do, but it aint easy to admit the Packers are a good team if you're a Bears fan, so loyalty plays into it. Maybe you see the tax cuts working, but you know, you just KNOW the other team is still full of evil cheating bastords. You will sit on your side of the stands for a looong time and it will take a whole lot of reality to get you out of that seat and over to the other side to join people you've hated for 20 years.
Did that help? I'll throw some first principles at you next. You really can't move forward without them.
