Took off 2 weeks. I planned the procedure around a down time with zero races in the near future. I was 45 when I had it done.

Not a big deal. Did it the morning before a long driving trip. Maybe took a couple days off of running at most.
Post-vasectomy life is very very good.
I took a week off. It was no big deal. Wore a jock or tighty whities in that first week back running and had just very mild/dull soreness.
Get it done. It is so worth it.
I had mine done 27 years ago this week. With the lousy January weather we have in the upper midwest it was a welcome reprieve from running.
Get some good, long hard workouts in the few days before as well as the day of the operation, then enjoy the rest and recovery.
I'm glad you're more concerned about running than the operation. I sweated and fretted about the procedure, and it wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
Another poster suggested you make sure it "took" so that you don't end up with a "surprise baby". My doctor required a "sample" a few weeks later to verify that there were no swimmers left in there. It takes a few times before they're totally purged.
omg
All, thanks for your posts, procedure went smoothly. No pain whatsoever a day later, plan to take 10 days off.
