John Virgo. Really?
Ha! For once I win! I saw the thread title on the first page and immediately thought "snooker."
Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day...

Apparently him and his club train I the same park I do. I've never actually seen him run though.
Not to mention that the prize for winning the World Championship is something like a half million pounds ($750,000 or so) - which is far more than even a great track athlete will EVER make.
Please John, say it once! You know what we all want to hear!
Is this a serious question? I mean how insular can America get?

Bonus points if you can tell me the difference between snooker and pool.

In this Blog he is mentioned a couple of times with photos - green and white hooped vest. 17:32 in a 5K then 189th in the South of England XC Championships at Parliament Hill.

Hate to break the news but that's not a sport. It's probably good that it's dying.
All the posters on here, including me have been "snookered." It's just another game of pool. If they are "walking ten miles," it's because they are horrible at the sport!
I don't think it is a sport, it is a hand/eye coordination game like darts, doesn't mean that there is no skill involved.
Snooker is a game. It's not a sport.

A lot of sports are games, it doesn't exclude them from being sports.
You just don't know what the word sport means.

Are Poker and Chess sports ?
Generally when this comes up someone will define a sport as "an activity that requires specific footwear" although I'm sure this has many loopholes

No, because there isn't a physical aspect in Chess or Poker.
The someone who defines sport by that footwear nonsense is a moron, don't let it be you.

It is nice to read a reasoned, logical argument I imagine.
In snooker is the "physical aspect" the fact that they are standing?

I think it is a sport. It may have a different level of physical intensity compared to other well known sports but it is mentally gruelling and requires extreme hand eye coordination which is developped through many hours of training.
You also have a higher earning potential as professional snooker player than you do as a professional runner.
Great to hear that Ronnie is into running.

They have to take a shot too, which is a skilful physical action. Same category as golf, archery, precision shooting etc which are all sports as far as I'm concerned. Footwear has nothing to do with it

So you don't think hitting something with something else is a physical act?
Or do you think snooker players are masters of telekinesis?
As soon as I saw this tread I was like it has to be Darts or Snooker
