The actual story is literally the opposite...good friend of mine is at a shoe company. Saucony is trying to extend his contract but he has a shop clause, so he has several companies making competitive offers

Ben True already had the option of signing with New Balance a few years ago when Coogan got on board. True opted to stay with Saucony then.
The opportunity will not come around again.

He has been 6th at both world XC and in the 5k in Beijing, and I feel like he could still have another couple years of solid competition/making teams ahead.
And this will sell more shoes? Your stats are great for geeks and he has run very well, but it means nothing to average guy buying a pair of shoes.
Dump these sponsorships, lets put money into better product development , youth programs and screw the elites.

Yeah, after age 17 or so I never bought a shoe based on what someone else ran in it.
