I finished DFL at outdoor nationals 5000m finals in 1994 and had to kick with 500m to go to avoid gettting lapped. Doesn't bother me one bit as I made my bones before that final. Shit happens.

Would you look at that! wrote:
Shout out to Darin Lau for running 4 seconds off his (granted, solo) PR two days after an all-out 10k. I would say he fared the best in terms of managing the double. Beast.
yeah really let's talk about how freakin good this double was. for whoever said before that nobody in d3 has the fitness to follow lamere, lau did that in the 10k and then stomped him in the 5. also, even though lau is a 10-5 runner, probably best in the 10, he managed to close that 5k with some fresh 5k and 5k-15 focus guys who are waaaay speedier than him. hale has a 1500 pr of 3:47, so a 2:02 final 800 in the 5k is impressive but believable. lau's 1500 pr is 3:55 from last year and STILL managed to put down a 2:03-2:04 last 800. that's SIGNIFICANTLY faster than his 1500 pace. WOW. incredible meet, incredible runner.
Hale actually has a 3:50 PR but your point stands. Lau had a fantastic meet. It's going to be exciting watching what he does next year.
Absolutely! I think he has a legitimate shot at a sub-14 and sub-29 next year if he stays healthy. I would love to see him win some titles next year. Definitely peaked at the right time this season.
