This case is BIZARRE. WHy would the captors release her? Why not just kill her off?

Also, why did the husband promise their kids, before super mom was released, that mom would be back on Thanksgiving day. A husband who can predict the future. Too bad he failed to predict the kidnapping. Or maybe he did and let the deed get done.
Watch the Ben Affleck movie Gone Girl and you'll see this desperate housewives motivation.
Basically, wife feels like she isn't getting enough attention from her husband and catches him cheating. She stages her kidnapping and plans on taking her own life...but making it look like her husband did it. The ultimate revenge in her mind. She chickens out and crawls back home with some bs story. He knows she lied, but never let's it out.
Seriously, she saw the movie or read the book and copied.
Wild Things or Gone Girl but the captor didn't kill her as she didn't want to commit suicide and miss out on the money and attention. Wonder who they got to plant this story about sex trafficking. They don't tend to go for suburban mothers of two who will be missed immediately vs drug addicts and runaway teens.

That is what would have happened if she had been abducted by a Mexican sex ring, as they seem to be claiming now. She would have been buried in a field where no one would likely ever find her. But no sex abuse seems to have occurred. So that abduction option just doesn't float.
I may still be the only one who doesn't think this is fake. The amount of injuries she had-bruises,burns, being branded and chained and being starved to 80 some pounds does not seem like something one would do to themselves. If someone was to fake an abduction, they could do it in a far less gruesome manner. And where exactly did she go to do this all to herself for 3 weeks (to those who think it's fake)? Unless she hid herself in some random house or the family was in on it, someone would have surely seen her. Hence why I think she was taken and kept somewhere. plus that would be a huge risk to take-faking an abduction and possinly losing her 2 kids doing something like that. just doesn't seem like that is what happened.
Her story doesn't pass the smell test
I don't think it's fake either. The region she was taken apparently known for drug cartels/sex trafficking.
She probably married her high school sweetheart and regretted that by the time she reached her 30's. Another man came into the picture. After a couple of weeks, she had buyer's remorse. Like Utah girl, this woman will go to extremes to avoid taking responsibility. This will eventually catch up with her. Attractive women can be very slick sometimes.
The 10 lb weight loss was like she wanted everyone to know how skinny she was to begin with. Another thing to consider is the lengths people will go to in order to cover something else up (think Jon Benet Ramsey 'intruder' story) so those injuries don't mean anything.

Again, watch Gone Girl. She avoids detection when hiding out by paying cash for everything and wearing a disguise. She hits herself in the face with a hammer.
If someone is crazy enough to fake an abduction, they are crazy enough to do just about anything.
Q: When did Papini the husband contact the FBI?
"Funny" how all the supposed "details" of this case are being released by the attention whore husband... Hopefully law enforcement is giving him the rope with which he's hanging himself.

And that is the game they are playing with him he is too dumb to get.
Cops: Yes we are looking for the kidnappers. We believe you.
Mr Supermom: She was branded by the Mexican sex cartel.
Cops: That is not good. Can we see the markings.
Mr Supermom: They have nearly healed entirely now. A week ago I saw them. They were there.
Mr Supermom: Is our $100,000 reward taxable?
Cops: Yes. We believe you.
Mr Supermom: Thanks.
I read through this thread thinking the comments were said sarcastically, but now I realize they're not. Many of you are invalidating this woman's horrific ordeal w/o knowing all the details, & that's disgusting to me. To think that there aren't men out there willing to pay kidnappers a lot of money to live out an abduction/torture fantasy is naive of you. Papini's case is an exception bc she was actually returned alive, although her life was likely spared since the case became so high profile. As far as the money goes, it's possible the FBI was negotiating w/ the kidnappers & they chose to keep this info private from the public. To assume we have as much info as the FBI does is also naive. From what I read, they're not even in support of the husband speaking to the press bc any info released to the public tampers with the investigation.
Another escapee from the looney bin.

Unless she weighed in before the kidnapping then no one can be assured there was any weight loss. I don't know that her actual weight at being found is even known. That info came from her husband.
There's definitely enough in the entire story to be skeptical.
I don't post often (maybe 1x/mo) but every time I do I get called crazy. In my day to day real life, I'm respected by colleagues and my opinions are valued, but for some reason, when I share opinions on here I'm psycho. Strange.

Another delusional thought from a deranged psycho. Nobody respects you in real life.

That's a cold hearted comment. Let's be thankful she's alive.
No way the husband was in on it. He would shut up quick.
For the wife, I'm pretty sure the captures were sending a messege. Maybe she broke bad, and the mexican dealers roughed her up so she would go back to being a house wife. Next time some hot desperate house wife decided to deal meth, she'll think twice.
Not sure what other message they could be trying to send.
