I run around 50mpw, but I've learned I need to lift heavy around once a week as well, otherwise I start to feel perma-fried. Sleep quality is reduced, energy levels are down, etc. But with one weight session per week it all changes. I suspect it keeps my hormones from going wonky - keeps my testosterone up, for example.
Anyone else experience this?
I have not quite experienced this. I did spend about 5 years with lifting as my main activity. Now getting back into running, I'm holding around 50 mpw like you are, and I do 2 moderate sessions a week. So not super heavy.
If I don't do it at all, I feel like I lose some durability and don't feel as well overall, but other weeks it feels like the 2 sessions are maybe a bit much.
What does your routine look like? And I'd be curious to hear what kind of runs you are doing doing during the week.
