That's going to make for a pretty small field. Probably won't need more than one wave. And will eliminate the majority on American men from the field. :)
Not even Rupp. 2:10:05. Bummer.
No American men have run sub 2:09 in the current qualification period so I guess Boston is actually going to have a foreign winner this year.
Paul Revere died for this? Say it ain't so.
Wow! They have gotten strict. Meb's winning time from 2014 barely makes the cut off.
My wife got in with only a -2:07 for her age group. I assume there must be some wiggle room around the -2:09 cutoff.
Or like a few years ago she'll get another letter telling her she is not in....
I was bummed when I qualified by 58 seconds in Dec 2010, only to get the letter that said "...you needed to run 1:15 faster than your qualifying standard. What do you do then? Too late to requal...
The cut off calculators had 0 seconds cut. Is there a reason the registration rate jumped up so much?

The number of qualifier slots was reduced from 24,000ish to 23,200ish.
They can't let every Tom, Dick, and Harry run. If you can't run 2:09, why do you even bother? Unless you are 14 or something.
The mega marathons aren't worth the hassle. I beat my qualifying time by 18+ minutes but have no interest in doing Boston.

wait, did they increase the pay more to get in spots by reducing qualifiers?
