Easy solution - you need to toughen up your beta rooster. He can't let those dogs come around and scare his women. He should be struttin' around the coup, begging for one of those dogs to try to start something.

Good one, guy! But I've already got bears in my neighborhood, lots of bears. Drove past one last week. Plenty of coyotes and lions that come through here too. It's face-palm worthy what the OP is trying to make a case for.
Are you suggesting that there are threads on LRC that are NOT face=palm worthy?

They don't fly out of their cage unless a neighborhood dog spooks them. Not my fault. If people would keep their dogs on a leash this wouldn't be an issue. For days now I've been driving around the neighborhood screaming at everyone to get their dogs on a leash and no one listens. It's like a fraternity or something. They'll gather by the soccer fields with six dogs chasing after a ball or frisbee.
2/10
Cover your coop. I have chickens. If you don't cover your coop you are asking for problems. Second the neighbors should leash their dogs. What if you had kids instead and they were attacked by off leash dogs? I hope your neighbors have a good umbrella policy to cover their negligence

If the neighbors' off leash dogs attack a child I would hope that the umbrella policy of the neighbors would be the least of your concerns.

Build a wall (fence).
Build a fence, and an enclosure for the chickens.

It's not the thread, but the mentality behind it. Before my initial post I took a moment to consider if the OP was a troll and re-read her post. Assuming she's for real, the entitled stupidity of her position is face palm worthy. Sure there are other threads of the same accord, but many are done in jest, to troll or out of true, low-IQ cretinism.
Of course it's a troll and you're all worked up and it's about chickens too! Better and better 9/10

I'm not all worked up. I get my bears to do my working for me.
Well you're chickens need the battle experience before they can evolve to stronger forms. Question: are they water, electric, rock or plant type chicken monsters?
You moved into an HOA for a reason. Follow the rules and enforce the rules. You can't cherry pick them. That is why I intentionally did not buy a house in an HOA.
There WERE some free range chickens in our neighborhood. One of my dogs ate 2 of them - sorry.
Too much of a temptation, he was in his back yard, jumped the fence grabbed a chicken and did a nice retrieve over the fence.
We have coyotes, raccoons, eagles, hawks, owls, foxes, bobcats and some occasional stray lions ... was bound to happen sooner or later.

NO. That will take away their freedom. And I'm not building a fence either. Why should I have to spend money and change what I'm doing? Why can't people just keep their dogs on a leash?
Obviously if you change nothing, the results will keep being the same.
Why did you start this thread?
Who the feck cares about chickens on a running forum? The OP is a useless spamming troll and should feck right off
Guard llama. Dogs won't mess with a guard llama.
Place sounds like a dump.
OT but if I pop in unannounced at your house, are you likely to go out back and kill a chicken by yourself, or is that frowned upon in America? In Kenya, this is the norm, and depending on your stature, you might get the honour of it being a goat.
What happens in Kenya if roaming dogs kill someone's chickens?
Dogs are people.

Well, I'm talkin' about the midnight gambler

The dogs know not to mess with chickens. Especially in western Kenya where chickens are worth their weight in wives.
