Like, are people in Charlotte going on their runs or just taking a few days off?

This would be when having a treadmill in your is useful.
I have relatives in Charlotte. The extent and actual violence of protests are always exaggerated. I'd imagine that it wouldn't be any harder to plan for a run than it is planning runs around construction in major cities.

It's actually a lot worse than news media is reporting right now. MSNBC just had a Charlotte Observer reporter on the line reporting that roving gangs are looting small businesses all over uptown and surrounding neighborhoods, breaking into upscale apartment buildings and lighting cars on fire. This is not being shown.
Anyone know if Charlotte Running Company is okay?
They break into my business or apratment I'd shoot the f out of em.
Declared state of emergency.
National guard going to be sent in.
No problem if you want to run. Just head to Southside Charlotte. It's a plastic Stepford Wives-ville.
I live in Baton Rouge and I run very late at night. I run after I put my kids asleep so usually around 9:30 p.m. The protests here made me very uneasy. Tons of violent protesters came in from all over the country and I was worried that if they saw a skinny white guy running solo late at night that perhaps someone could try to get some revenge by jumping me or shooting me. Police officers were busy trying to stay alive themselves and were being assigned to keep the peace. I cut many runs short during this time and I tried to run in safer areas. A couple of times I literally ran around my .5m block 15x or so. It really makes it difficult. Between the protests and the flood, my city feels like downtown Fallujah. Black hawks in the sky, police sirens... crazy.
You are smart as last night they were targeting white guys leaving offices alone in parking garages. Really tough and brave of them. No media covers it, either. A white long haul trucker had his cab set on fire after being stopped on the highway. I know it sounds insane, but if you are running at night in one of these areas, you should probably have concealed protection. Especially if you have kids.
I run at night as well and used to carry pepper spray but realized it wouldn't do much in the face of an attack. Now I carry an ASP baton and I barely know I have it in my hand. I do not expect to use it, but I have had some close calls in the past when I would have liked to have had it. If you get a baton, make sure it has a wrist lock so it doesn't get taken from you.
