L.A.will probably get in given the stadiums and infrastructure are already in use today.

Budapest is an amazing city, their big problem will be the sailing events. Will Hungary be able to afford it?
Paris, amazing city, big problems with terrorism. I watched the WCs in 2003 and it was great. So they can handle it if they truely want to get in behind it. Anglo-Saxon nationalism is seen as sickening to others but French nationalism is worse. Has a rail system, Roland Garros, Saint-Denis, plenty of football stadiums.
LA, both an amazing city and a dangerous scum hole. Close to the Pacific Ocean. But is 40 years too close (man time has flown by) some will say yes.

I wouldn't dilute T&F anymore with dupilicity.

And problems with terrorism France has had over the last year.
The football European Championships were held this year at a difficult time and a lot of people would rather have seen them cancelled with more serious things going on.
LA has history of actually making money from the Games, and after the problems the IOC had in Rio, they'll want a safe bets for the for the forseeable future. Tokyo seems to be one and LA is too as much as a host city can be.

3 remaining bidders are Budapest, Paris, and LA. Its probably going to go to Paris if the French want it as it should. LA is miserably hot in the summer and doesn't have the history Paris does.
Have you ever spent a August in Paris? Good luck....
PS: On the latest DL meeting after the Olympics there were 33C in the Stadium on a late afternoon....

The personal hygiene, uncleanliness, and filthy living conditions of Paris is a shock for Americans and those not from Western Europe. Whew!

I assume you've never lived in France (was there the year the summer heat wave killed a ton of people) or Hungary during the summer - I've lived in both, and LA has by far the best weather for a Summer Olympics. Paris and Budapest also don't have as much AC in hotels.
Am I still on Letsrun? Why are we not talking about how hot the mayor of Rome is?

It will also be 12 years since the Olympics were in Europe, but only 8 since they were in the Americas.
My first thought was that America isn't in the Americas so LA should get it. Then I realized that London isn't in Europe either, so yeah Paris it is.
Budapest is poor and dangerous for tourists. Paris is uncivilized, very dirty, and the people are extremely rude and happy to make you feel inferior. At least L.A. won't cost taxpayers a dime.

Muslims deserve to hold the Olympics as well.
Agreed, those are some local economies that deserve the IOC's full support.
Just the opposite. The local economies can't afford a 5+ billion dollar budget with a billion dollar "hangover" tax bill after the IOC leaves.

This isn't true. The coliseum is planned to get overhaul. Most of the sports don't have modern facilities. A $5-10 billion project funded by the taxpayers.

If LA uses it as a chance to upgrade their metro system, it will be worth every penny.

True get rid of the 10k.
Give it to Budapest. Switch it up a little.

The Metro from LAX to USC/Coliseum is already finished. USC has hosted the Olympics twice already. A 3rd time is no big deal for USC. By tradition, USC always fully includes UCLA, Stanford, and Berkeley in the planning and the games.

Only Tokyo and Los Angeles have the venues in existence holding regular meetings to accommodate totally the Summer Olympics this weekend.

Always a real risk to give it to the US.
People still remember 96 and the Olympics that gives all other cities hope in the sense that they could never be as bad as that one.
