I think its great for a guy that probably docent care at all about the sport of distance running.

He's probably just training to work up a little sweat and would laugh hysterically at some old guy criticizing him about his pace.

This. But it is interesting as a running community how a pro athlete from a different sport is capable or interested in our sport. No need to knock it down...just saying.

congratulations on your 80+ age grade but think of your own handle.

Big freaking whoop. I am older than aikman, 30 pounds. ovrerrweight, smoked over a pack a day for 12+ years and I ran a half marathon at that pace.

Oh please. 6 miles at 8:24? That is nothing but hobby-jogging and not worthy of any mention at all. Good for Aikman for staying in shape and being healthy. That's it.

Does this count as "broadcasting one's running"? Did you just demote yourself from a "runner" to a "jogger" with this post?

I don't think most people have "disdain" for hobby joggers.

But very few people have answered the question what should we call the section were we give attention to people like Aikman?

If you believe most people do not have disdain for hobby joggers, why not call your section "celebrity hobby jogging highlights" as another poster suggested?

I'll set a few facts straight for you losers. Aikman is single now, but was married and has two teenage daughters. He dates some of the most beautiful women in the country so I'm not sure what part of that history makes him gay. Does sitting in a booth with his friend Joe Buck cause a gay osmosis thing?

He posts his runs because unlike anybody here, there are a lot of people who like the guy and are fans. He goes out of his way to promote health and fitness to his followers. He's not bragging about speed, he's telling people he got out and ran, so they feel like they can do it too.

I am hoping to hold that pace for a 5k this weekend.

Of course I am 1 years older than Aikman and was not a pro athlete, never mind a legend.

Count me as not overly impressed.

It boggles my mind that anyone could think the average 40 something year old could run 6 miles at 8:24 pace.
