Yes. The 12 oz shoes should be heavier.
Will it impact my training at all? I\'m just trying to figure it why people prefer lighter shoes and whether or not they are preferable.

impact sounds so serious and dramatic. lol
but yes, of course you will notice a difference. even if it isnt the weight diff. itself, the very heavy shoe is probably alot stiffer and will feel more cast-like.

Yes. Train in heavy ones all summer long and set PRS in your fall marathons especailly if you saturate your shoes during long runs in the summer humidity like I do.
